LANCECASPER Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 How much of a hit in value for a 252 that did not come with Factory Oxygen, Speed Brakes, Hot Prop and a 2nd Alternator? Also is has the Century 2000 autopilot instead of the KFC150. There is no FLight Director or HSI, just an Attitude Indicator and a DG. On the plus side it does have a Garmin 430. Any ideas on how much it would cost to add built in Oxygen? Speed Brakes? 2nd Alternator? Thanks Quote
231Pilot Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 You must be looking at the one that's for sale for $99,500 from Van Bortel. If so, the engine is run out too. By the time you make it a fully functional 252, you will put almost as much as the purchase price in her...major overhaul, HSI or Aspen/Garmin glass panel, 2nd alternator, speed brakes, oxygen add up to a huge influx of your dollars. I looked, as did others on the board, and that one is no bargain. Quote
jax88 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 If that is the Van Bortel aircraft, be sure to have a look at the logs. Nothing terribly alarming, but there are some gaps if I recall correctly. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 I've been making offers on that plane since December. It ain't worth what they're asking. I think they got an offer on it that the bank accepted early this past week...whether cash has changed hands or not, I don't know. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 What's really unfortunate is that when a lot of good deals come on the market, they get huge interest by people without the money to secure and/or complete a transaction. People with cash or credit in hand make reasonable offers, but because they aren't the best offer, are forced to wait till the tirekickers leave. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted April 17, 2011 Author Report Posted April 17, 2011 Did Mooney make many 252's that were stripped down? Has the bank figured out that this one can't be compared to what others have sold for Quote
Seth Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 I completed the pre-buy inspection on that aicraft, 622MA on Friday and plan not to move forward. PM me if you want the details. -Seth Quote

LANCECASPER Posted April 17, 2011 Author Report Posted April 17, 2011 Seth, I would appreciate the details of the pre-buy. My email is lance99@aol.com. My phone is 210-643-4161. This is only my second day on the forum, but it is awesome. Thanks, Quote
kgbpost Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Why don't you take a mini vacation to San Antonio and take a spin in 52938 with David? Its not cheap but its very nicely equipped and has a low time Western Skyways engine (very reputable shop). I looked at it back when I was shopping. Looked nice to me even though I ultimately decide to go with a Bravo. Not many 252s to choose from right now. Who knows what it could be had for, but it's been in their inventory for some time. jax88 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 I looked at 52938 on Friday. Not new, but nothing wrong with it that I could see. Be careful, David has some other aircraft that may be irresistable. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Quote: 201Pilot I think they've come down on the listed price twice since it came on the market: Started at $139,000 (I think), dropped to $119,000 and now $99,500. $40,000 price drop and still not worth what they are asking. The fact that it didn't make it past pre-buy says something. I think you could spend the money you would have to put into that one on a turnkey, ready to fly 252 with a reasonably low time powerplant and have a much better deal. Since it didn't make it past pre-buy, look for it to drop even more. Quote
jackn Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 I was wondering, how many 252s are still airworthy, in the USA, and haven't been converted into rockets. Only 231 of them were built. Quote
