McMooney Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 Accidently broke my baby, where do I find the clear plastic pieces which go under the nav/strobes and show if they are working from the cockpit? what are they called? Quote
cbarnes403 Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 That is a piece of plexiglas. Find the same thickness and make a new one. 2 1 Quote
Raptor05121 Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 AircraftSpruce should carry them Quote

flight2000 Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 Does it look like these? http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/clite.php Otherwise, Lowe's sells plexiglass in different thickness so you can roll your own. Cheers, Brian 1 Quote
Hank Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 I bought one from LASAR. Make sure you 9sitting down when asking the price, made me decide tomnot jjsg rrplace ithnwhile i was doing it. Also, drill the bolt holes carefully so it doesn't crack . . . But you'll need to trim it to fit your wing first. Quote
HRM Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 These little buggers? Never noticed them (not a lot of night flights): Quote
Andy95W Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 I always liked these things, but never really got the point. You preflight the airplane and check the lights. If one goes out in flight, what are you going to do, land? Or continue? If it doesn't change my decision to continue, why have them in the first place? Quote
MB65E Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 Are they not for wing tip position location while taxing at night? That's what I was told. more drag if you ask me. -Matt Quote

Raptor05121 Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 I thought about removing mine, but I do 1/3rd of my flying at night and the are relatively useful in judging distance to wingtip. Quote
M20F-1968 Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 Use Lexan, not plexiglas. Holds up better. Can be bought locally. Easy to make. John Breda Quote
