Browncbr1 Posted April 28, 2017 Report Posted April 28, 2017 The baffling is almost complete, so time to mod the cowling. Is the lower lasar cowl salvageable? Quote

Browncbr1 Posted April 29, 2017 Report Posted April 29, 2017 Cool, that might help some people decide to upgrade if they can sell their old cowl closure. I'm waiting for your kit though!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

MyNameIsNobody Posted April 29, 2017 Report Posted April 29, 2017 That cowl mod is no daisy range model lever action carbine with a compass in the stock, but it ain't bad... "Easy on the eyes and while flying through the clear blue skies"... Quote

Raptor05121 Posted May 1, 2017 Report Posted May 1, 2017 Putting that GE halogen back in is sacrilege! He needs LED to keep the modernized look up 4 Quote
Sabremech Posted May 1, 2017 Author Report Posted May 1, 2017 That's just in there for fitting. I have a customer supplied Aero LED landing light to install. David 7 Quote
Browncbr1 Posted May 2, 2017 Report Posted May 2, 2017 Hey David... will you be adding anti chaffing tape or something as a standard where the cheek panels overlay the lower cowl fiberglass? Quote
jamesm Posted May 2, 2017 Report Posted May 2, 2017 Hi David, Does your mod cowl have a lens cover over the landing light ? Great progress keep the photos coming . Thanks, James '67c Quote

thinwing Posted May 4, 2017 Report Posted May 4, 2017 I am just blown away that his FSDO is approving all this with a field approval..it must again be his Wisconsin location....Is Wisconsin the only state with sane FAA inspectors? 1 Quote

Sabremech Posted May 5, 2017 Author Report Posted May 5, 2017 Actually, I'm working with the DuPage IL FSDO on this project and they have some good people like the MKE WI FSDO does. I've had a few field approvals done lately through them. David Quote
Raptor05121 Posted May 5, 2017 Report Posted May 5, 2017 Curious thought- is there room to relocate the oil cooler to the back of the baffle and do a dual landing light setup? Quote

That depends on where your battery is located. I think Lasar has an STC for that. I have two different lower cowling pieces depending on where the oil cooler is mounted. Two landing lights could be done on my cowling, but I don't plan to be installing the second landing light. That will be left up to the owner to have done. Thanks, Davd Quote
Sabremech Posted May 7, 2017 Author Report Posted May 7, 2017 Lower cowling is getting closer to completion. Landing light and carb closeout panel to complete. 7 Quote
Sabremech Posted May 7, 2017 Author Report Posted May 7, 2017 Top cowling work today. Almost finished with it and will install cowlings tomorrow for fit check. David 5 Quote
