gsxrpilot Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 I'd really like to get my hands on an air filter for my M20K tomorrow (Thursday). If anyone knows of one in Texas, I"ll come get it. Thanks, Quote
LANCECASPER Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 You might check the logbooks. They are due for replacement every 500 hours. Falcon Crest in San Antonio might have one. 210-349-9135 Quote

I know mine isn't at the 500 hours yet, but after flying in the dirt for the last week, I'd feel much better if I could put a clean filter in before my trip to Tennessee on Friday. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Hit it a few times, vacuum it out with a shop vac and put a new one in when you get back. Quote
Yetti Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Are we talking Bracket foam element? Quote

Yetti Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Brackett shows no fit for the K Model. and you need the holder. Sorry http://www.brackettaerofilters.com/manufacturers/mooney.asp Try being gentle with an air compress back to front. Quote
neilpilot Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Back in February I bought one from Spruce. Found that some vendors were back ordered. 08-06081 DONALDSON FILTER AM108365FP Quote

Probably ought to take it off the airplane first. I would not blow it clean with compressed air, it could tear or erode. Quote
Yetti Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 When I say carefully with compressed air, I mean at the same rate of air movement that got the dirt in there or just a bit more. This has been done on all sorts of engines air filter engines for decades. if you hurt the element it should not be on the plane since that is what is happening in flight. You know getting hit with 200 mph of wind. Quote
Yetti Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 As a wee young furry mythical creature blowing out air filters is like one of my early recollections of my father yetti showing me how to do. 1 Quote
jetdriven Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 The donaldson filter is washable. Take a 5 gallon bucket full with water, then liquid laundry soap. Push down with the dirty side of the filter up. Several times then rinse and let dry before flying. 1 Quote
