Jon Moyle Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Sad to say during the annual corrosion was found in the wing of my plane. After discussion with our manic the cost of repairing is just not worth it. We have a low time Lycoming , 3 blade hartzel prop and 430 gramin 2. Does anyone have advise on how to proceed with selling the rest, salvage, resellers, etc. Much appreciated. Thanks Jon Quote
KSMooniac Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 You can start with an ad here and on Barnstormers. Pics are helpful, of course. You have two choices...try to get someone to buy the entire thing and haul it away, or part it out yourself and try to get maximum value. Parting it yourself will take time and effort, and of course some storage space, but should easily net you the most money. Unfortunately I doubt there is a huge demand for M20B airframe parts, but the avionics, engine, and prop should be easy to sell. Sorry to hear of it! Quote
Alan Fox Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 I might be interested in buying the whole bird.......PM me if interested... 1 Quote
Marauder Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 You want to talk to the Boogie Man, aka Alan Fox, aka Sanford without a son... He goes by N74795. Don't give stuff away. You will get low ball offers on pretty valuable stuff. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Marauder Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Jeepers Alan, you didn't even given me a chance to respond. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote

Wakeup Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 I would be interested in a few parts. I have a 1961 M20B as well. Keep us posted. Troy Quote
carusoam Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Jon, Welcome aboard. You may want to take a picture of the corrosion, as well. This way you can get a second opinion of how bad your situation is, and possibly what someone else has done to remedy a similar challenge. On the other hand, Sanford and Daughter may be your best alternative... Get ready with some details and photos, if you intend to sell the key good parts. Like are the 430s actually 430Ws? Is the Hartzell a TopProp scimitar blade or other specific blade design? What engine is it, how many hours since OH. Who did the OH and when. Those kinds of things will be helpful for you... Where are you? Best regards, -a- Quote
animalmover Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Sorry, I hate to hear we lost another in the B club. Quote
Marauder Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Sorry, I hate to hear we lost another in the B club. I hate when we lose any of them! A guy on my field just sold his C to Wentworth because of an impending $10k annual. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
animalmover Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 I've seen two show up at a small airport that I visit frequently ( they hold them for the insurance companies after crashes ). It just leaves a lump in your throat when anything shows up but especially a mooney. Quote
Seth Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 John- Alan is a good guy and will help take the B off your hands while giving you a fair price for the work involved. Maybe sell a few parts to Troy first, and then the rest to Alan. It stinks that your plane is done. Good luck finding a new bird! -Seth Quote
Raptor05121 Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 If you're selling the 430, let me know. Quote
IvoryM Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 I would be interested in buying the empty fuselage including the wings and tail. Please let me know if you do decide to part it out. Thanks Mitch Quote
