Decided to help another Mooney driver out by lending my gear donut tools out for the cost of shipping.

Well, looks like USPS just lost them.  NICE!

I personally delivered the package to the post office on Saturday.  They did not do a first scan or any other scans to show traveling progress.  My gut says it vanished from my own post office.  Someone saw the insured value and wanted it.

USPS has lost the last two aviation-related packages I have sent or attempted to receive through them (most recently my oil analysis sent to Blackstone labs two weeks ago).   I will leave it at that and spare you my subsequent rant, as i see you have your own pain to manage.

Yes Parker, FedEx is the way to go.  My MT prop went from Germany to installed in Illinois in 3 days.  No damage & not lost!

Ok, I am cured, no more USPS!

My experience with Fed-Ex has been terrible. They turfed my lawn really badly with their dually and another experience when they delivered a portable generator upside down in the box that they taped back together.

This second picture shows that box couldn't even sit flat because they had the unit the box upside down.

USPS lost an item that Dugosh shipped to me not once but TWICE!

Finally Vannette shipped it UPS.

I avoid USPS with anything of value or importance.  I usually use UPS.

I'll go one step further.  I don't trust any government or quasi government agency (except the military) to do their job properly.

at least you insured them.  Still not worth the aggravation though.

Last year USPS lost an oil sample for 2 weeks that I shipped to Blackstone. It's not something that can be replaced :(. So I went to my local USPS and they called the receiving USPS office and they finally found it.

I've used USPS to ship quite a bit because they have typically been 1/2 the price of UPS or FedEx. But yesterday I had to ship part of my exhaust system off for repair and I went into Staples for packing stuff/bubble wrap and just for giggles I asked for a price for UPS to ship it. He quoted me $25 - WOW!! I had him check on insurance and $1,400 in insurance bumped the entire price up to $39 - Wowzer!!! I don't know if that was a mistake but they got my business.

I ship about 250 packages USPS a year , their two day service between three zones is a third of fedex/ups..... I have never lost one , but I had two that disappeared for 2 to five weeks......in the last 5 years ......I always ship Signature required....

I ship stuff USPS about 25 times a month. They haven't lost anything in the last 4 years.

I prefer UPS still, but I can't say that USPS is that terrible.

FedEx on the other hand consistently pisses me off. They left a brand new laptop in a box with a huge Dell logo on it sitting on the sidewalk in front of my house. I was home at the time. No knock, just left it sitting out where anyone could walk away with it. The UPS guy knocked on my door, handed it to me and was like "WTF?" A month or so later FedEx delivered a stack of 6 very expensive racing wheels, also in very obviously labeled boxes. Again I was home, again they stacked them at the edge of my driveway and left. When I called to complain their answer was "well the shipper didn't request a signature so they can leave things." SMH

I just talked to Blackstone this morning. I sent them a sample (USPS) almost 2 weeks ago and no report. BL has not received it yet but she tells me 2 weeks in pretty much routine. Obviously the same delivering depo as Dave's.

With the Blackstone shipments I think the issue is their plastic shipping bottle. I think it freaks the USPS people out :o.

I have one to send now and I'll put their bottle in a box and see if USPS gets it to them in the 4-5 days without losing it.

Let us know if that helps. This is only my 2nd (maybe 3rd) using BL, I remember getting a fast report previously.
