MyNameIsNobody Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Always wanted one of those vintage Mooney leather key fobs. Got one on Ebay last night. Has leather embossed with Vintage Mooney Logo and "drop in mailbox if found" Kerrville, TX. Pretty cool. In great condition. Looking forward to receiving it. History? Were these sold with the planes back in the day? Anyone know when they stopped? I need to find an ABC leather kit so I can stamp my N-Number. Quote
AndyFromCB Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 So you are Scott's ghost after all. You Ebay account gave you away ;-) How is afterlife? Lots of bids on WWII collectibles. Quote

M016576 Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Someone a few years back was talking about having some of those made... Maybe a group buy? Can't remember what happened with that... Quote
Hank Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Dave was talking about it. N1960A, a 1960 M20-A. I think it's a hobby for him, but I don't remember anything coming of the discussion. Quote
MyNameIsNobody Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 Thanks. Yes, I tried to do a search for that thread and couldn't locate it. I have been searching for one after seeing that thread. I little vintage leather to go with my vintage plane. Or perhaps just a re-make of same? Quote
Hank Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Seems the one Dave was talking about making was the old one that folds over the keys to make a clean triangle to drop in your pocket. Do you have a picture of the one you just bought? Maybe we can entice Dave to make some this time. Quote
MyNameIsNobody Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 I will attach when I receive Hank. Quote

Bob_Belville Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 I'm thinking I used to have one... back in the '70s! 1 Quote
MyNameIsNobody Posted April 24, 2015 Author Report Posted April 24, 2015 I like that it is very small/compact. Barely bigger than the keys. Still wondering if they came from Mooney with plane or if there was a vendor back when these key fobs were popular? Now to get the N-Number stamped in the leather... Quote
aviatoreb Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 We should be able to design a group built/order for something like that if we wanted. 1 Quote
Danb Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 Back in the day the dealer often gave the buyer a gift. Weber sent me a model of my J when I bought my first Mooney from him...wish there was still gratitude today.. 3 Quote

Weber sent me a model of my J when I bought my first Mooney from him...wish there was still gratitude today.. I got two models from the factory, painted in my scheme. The fist one was a Bravo. When I told them I was coming back to Kerrville to pick up my new aircraft, they quickly sent me a correct MSE. They also gave us Mooney jackets and baseball caps. No more of that, I'm guessing. 2 Quote

aviatoreb Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 By golly - if I buy a brand new $700k Mooney - I want a "free" key chain! AND a hat! I fly a used Mooney. I had to buy my own key chain and hat. 3 Quote
Hank Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 My Mooney was very used when I bought it. It came with a hat, some patches and every year or so I'd get another set of keys the PO found somewhere. I think I'm at five sets now, maybe more. It's all in who you buy your used Mooney from. Quote
