flaflyer Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Anybody have a source for the fabric covered foam trim around the entry and baggage doors? I think I've heard it called windlace but I'm not sure. It's on my '84 M20J. Thanks for any help. Quote
MooneyBob Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I believe that Airtex Interiors sell it and it called door seal welt. Check their website / catalogue / miscellaneous. And call them to confirm. 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I've found that the stuff you will find at auto upholstery shops doesn't have a long enough tab. Aircraft upholstery shops usually sew up their own. You can get the core at all upholstery supply houses. If you are handy with a sewing machine it is easy to make. Quote
rgpilot Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I bought some from Airtex and replaced the welt around the door. It's better than the original material. It's a tedious job replace all those little screws that hold it in place. Lay a towel or something down to catch the ones you drop. I took the seat out to get working room. A small sharp punch to make holes in the material to put the screws through and find the holes around the door. It will look great when your done. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Aircraft Spuce sells it in black https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/windlacedoorwelt.php?clickkey=35093 Quote
MB65E Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I made my own for the baggage door. On the jets they use a rubber cored nylon covered rope then covered in leather. I grabbed some 3/8in cord and some leather scrap from a local aircraft interior shop. Looks nice. Used my wife's sewingmachine. I had to figure out the foot as she never used the side foot. -Matt Quote

Automotive ones maybe too short. Quote
