Rich Wheeler Posted December 26, 2014 Report Posted December 26, 2014 Not unless something is badly broken. Unlike Bo's, where each wheel moves with its own motor, actuator, etc. Hey all, PMFJI, but I'm not quite sure your description matches up with the Bo/Baron gear system. In these aircraft, of all variants, there is only one gear motor/transmission. It sits under the spar between the front seats. The motor drives the transmission, which is linked to the gear via rods. The only way one gear can fail to move in unison is if a rod/rod end breaks. The manual extension is a handle behind the seat. Extending the handle clutches it into a worm gear, allowing you to manually turn the transmission, extending the gear. Older Bo's and Barons had a single gear light system. The system assumed that if the transmission was in the right place, the gear would be as well. Older Bos also had a mechanical indicator for the nose gear. More recent varieties have a 3 light system, but still retains the transmission position switch for the gear lights. Best, Rich Quote
Guest Posted December 26, 2014 Report Posted December 26, 2014 Comanche gear is similar to the Beech gear. An electrically powered linear actuator(transmission ) located between the front seats drives a retraction truss, which is connected to the nose gear with a steel push rod and to the mains via two large push pull cables. All gears are lock over center geometrically then held there by system tension. All gears move in unison. Clarence Quote
