eman1200 Posted December 15, 2014 Report Posted December 15, 2014 Thanks to DrBill, I was able to experience my first flight (right seat) in a Mooney m20e. It was pretty close to what I expected, which was 'awesome'. It was very comfortable for me, plenty of leg room with the seat pushed back. Great speeds, great looking plane. Guess I'm not telling you something you don't already know lol but yeah, I want one bad. Now it's time to get me an extra paper route so I can start saving up! 2
bonal Posted December 15, 2014 Report Posted December 15, 2014 What is your current flight status ie PPL student or ? I remember when I got to do some laps in a shifter race kart and was so jazzed and on the way home the fellas said well the first ride is free ... Hope you can make it happen and join the ranks of lunatics

Hope you can make it happen and join the ranks of lunatics I'm approx. 120 hour PPL with experience in Cherokees and Archers. Flight school has a Cessna that I'll eventually get checked out in just for an extra rental option. I have friends in NJ/NY and family in FLA, both of which would be much more feasible trips in a mooney than an archer. 1
DrBill Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 Oh yea, the picture Eric posted is of course of Charlotte Motor Speedway, only a few miles North of our airport.
ryoder Posted December 17, 2014 Report Posted December 17, 2014 Look for a partnership. I would love to have a half share partner in mine as these airplanes want to fly.
eman1200 Posted December 17, 2014 Author Report Posted December 17, 2014 Look for a partnership. I would love to have a half share partner in mine as these airplanes want to fly. No doubt. I've been looking. There's also one at the field that almost never flies due to the owner having lost his medical. Sad.
cliffy Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Make a deal with the owner to clean it and fly it and take him along once and a while. Maybe offer to have the oil changed etc for the ability to fly it once and a while. OBTW, tell him you pay the insurance ( maybe even tie down) and get a professional Mooney check out too. Just might work.

whiskytango Posted December 20, 2014 Report Posted December 20, 2014 My first time to sit in a Mooney ever was in March 2013, when the broker took me up for a brief flight in a M20C that was for sale. I had heard sayings like "you sit in a Piper, but you wear a Mooney" and "It's like getting in a sports car" and I needed to know if a Mooney would work? After looking at a few other M20s ... We bought that first airplane ... Funny I wasn't even going to look at that particular airplane (I didn't like the paint job) but I was already nearby to look at another airplane ... My first flight in a Mooney was getting a ride back the the airport to retrieve my truck after buying a brand "C". I immediately knew the brand "C" was going to be sold so I could buy an E model. What a great airplane!
