Ok, I'm looking at a '66 M20E and need some rough repair cost estimates.

Reseal tanks

New landing gear pucks

Vacuum pump replacement

Three bladed prop to do away with the hub ad (just curious, I like the way they look)!

Thanks!

Try the search area at the top right.

Select the forums button after that.

There is plenty of info on those topics.

Add paint and interior to your search...

Know that the two blade prop is probably faster than the three blade prop for your application.

Best regards,

How much money do you have????

For me,

Vacuum pump $450 installed.

Landing gear pucks,  Depends on if you have the original firestone pucks.

Figure $100/puck for Lord pucks,  (I think you need 11 total)

+1800 for LASAR conversion kit

+ a couple of hundred for labor

reseal tanks  Figure 7-9k to do it right  8-11k to do it wrong then redo it right.

3 blade prop  10k.

Hope this does not discourage you.  The E really is a great plane.

Ok, I'm looking at a '66 M20E and need some rough repair cost estimates.

Reseal tanks- 5-8k

New landing gear pucks- $2,500

Vacuum pump replacement-$400

Three bladed prop to do away with the hub ad (just curious, I like the way they look)! 4-8k. Possibly used...

Just a rough estimate. depends on how good of a deal you get on the Prop, and who is willing to scrap sealant from the tanks.

Lots of good info in the search function.

Good luck!

Thanks! I'm on my iPad so the search is clunky.... The plane has flown about 80 hours a year and the engine was rebuilt this century, so I'm not expecting any major issues.

Resealing 52 gal tanks is ~$7000.

Pucks are ~$100 each. A full set is 11. Count on 4-6 hours labor, more if your A&P hasn't done several before. Add another couple hundred to rent disc compression tools if needed.

The rest I can't help you with; I don't remember what it cost to replace my pump, and my plane had the 3-blade when I bought it.

Happy upgrading!

I'd be concerned with an airplane that needed all of that. These are the items that you're aware of and it seems the plane may have had other items neglected as well. Airplanes don't like to sit and if the pucks and tanks have dried out, I'd be concerned about the electronics and avionics as well as the engine internals being in similar condition.

May just be old pucks. They don't seem to be affected by lack of use, just age. They all carry a manufacture date molded in; when I replaced mine in Dec, I was ale to read the date correctly as "6-69" while I had thought it was "9-96." Much improved taxi and landing!  :)

Let me clarify, the plane does not need any of this. Just these repairs have not been done, or I can't find them due to the chicken scratch in the log books. I looked at the plane yesterday and it looks like some of the shock disks have been changed and there are no fuel leaks. :-)

The first mooney I bought many years ago I got to go through a tank Reseal.
