Houman Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Hi, Going to Atlantic city for the 1st time next weekend ( 4th of July weekend ), and I was wondering what airport are you guys recommending, KACY seems good, but a lot of different fees, any other airport where some members here might have 1st hand experience ? P.S. my trip might get canceled because of the hurricane, hopefully not !!! Thanks!!! Quote
Glenn Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 I did the trip last July 4th and used KACY. Good service from Landmark. Took a cab into Atlantic City and used the ubiquitous Jitneys to get around. You may notice an abandoned runway just west of the city. That used to be Bader field, and walking distance to the boardwalk. Progress??? Have a good trip, and a sandwich at the White House. 1 Quote
Seth Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Bader would have been the field, but as mentioned is closed. KACY gives good service and it's the closest airport. It's open 24-7. Ocean City NJ, 26N, is just to the South of ACY, but you'll need to rent a car. Great place to fly to if you are walking to the beach, but I'm not sure how they work rental car wise. -Seth 1 Quote
PTK Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 KACY is an excellent choice. Full array of precision and non prec. approaches including the not so easy to find anymore, ASR and PAR. Also the controllers are awesome. They are professional and genuinely interested in helping. Quote
Marauder Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 If your intent is to stay in AC the whole time, KACY is the best choice. If you want a refuge, so you don't give all of your money away, I would consider 26N as Seth mentions. If you go there, keep in mind it is a "dry" town. Need to bring "wet" in. Marauder Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Are you saying bring in water Chris? Yes Peter, but with a little bit of alcohol content... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 1 Quote
AmigOne Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 I believe Arthur might have something to say about your trip. Quote
Houman Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 Thanks all for your valuable input, I will try KACY and keep Ocean city as alternate, unless Arthur decides to go westbound inland and cancel my trip... Quote
Houman Posted July 7, 2014 Author Report Posted July 7, 2014 Just a feed back, KACY was great, the ramp guys were awsome even tough we got there late on the 4th of July ( got to see NY fireworks from the air trough the Hudson river corridor ). And honestly the cost was decent, the fuel price was a bit higher, but not too too bad... Thanks again all for your good advice !!! 2 Quote
