scottfromiowa Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Took an AOPA quiz today that purported to "tell you what the best airplane to buy for you" was, based on about a dozen questions. Fun quiz. I answered honestly. and the winner is: MOONEY 201 I fly an E the "poor mans 201" Still love my plane. I guess it was destiny that we connect. Try to locate the quiz. Have fun. 2 Quote
Cruiser Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 My result was the same: Airplane Personality Quiz Find out what aircraft best suits you Mooney Here is a link to the quiz. http://www.aopa.org/apps/quizzes/ 1 Quote

Bennett Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Mooney 201 for me from this quiz. Glad I have one Quote
1964-M20E Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Did it twice once came back with a C210 second time a G36. Maybe I'm just confused or smarter than a 14 quesiton survey. Quote
bonal Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 WHEW! What a relief I am still in the Mooney even though it's not a 201 that I own. As typical the questions have very limited answers. For Me Aviation movie would be Jet Pilot. I used to own a Ninja now I'm on a Yamaha FZ1 choice of Military aviation F16 or A10 Favorite Pilot in history Chuck Yeager or any one that flew SR71"s I was worried I might have to buy a Bonanza. 1 Quote
orionflt Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 It doesn't matter whether I want to ride a Harley or a Ninja, Fly a F-22 or a F/A 18.... it always comes up Mooney ! Quote
Bob - S50 Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 201 for me. Just what we have. Bob Quote
Joe Zuffoletto Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Good God. Diamond DA-40. How emasculating. And no, I don't buy expensive wine. But I do drive Porsches. 3 Quote
Jeff_S Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Some of those questions were downright impossible to answer, but I tried to be very honest based on my feelings today. The quiz came back and said I should be in a G36 Bonanza. Perhaps because I wanted to fly in Today's era rather than in the 80s, and I wanted to drive the Ferrari rather than the Porsche. Quote
chrisk Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 My quiz came back and said I should be in a Mooney 201. And after a bit of playing with the quiz, I think they got at least one Mooney owner trait correct. For question #10, the one about the $50 bottle of wine. Being a cheap Mooney pilot, I would never pay $50 for a bottle of wine. Apparently, if I would pay $50 for a bottle of wine, I should be flying a Bonanza. 3 Quote
Schinderhannes Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Good fun, ended up with the 201 as well. I went back and tried different answers to get a feel for the differentiators, and the $50 bottle of wine bottle is what move one to the Beech camp.... Funny fact is that we have a good friend who has a very fast Bonanza and he brings a $50 bottle every time he visits… 1 Quote
Danb Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 I'm in for a g36 Bonanza ..oh well 2nd place isn't to bad Quote
Dave Marten Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Thanks guys! What a great quiz. http://www.aopa.org/apps/quizzes/ I tried to imagine the stereotypical Mooney pilot and plugged in those answers.....the quiz is spot-on! Found a way to answer with a little bit of Friday humor! This combo seriously leads to a Mooney! Have a good laugh The "Mooney Pilot" - God help us all! 1.I wanna fly before 1980! Gas is too expensive now even LOP! 2. My favorite aviator: Lindbergh- Of course the one who flew the furthest on the least gas! 3. My favorite aviation movie is: The magic of flight - The one that doesn't involve combat and mostly keeps the wings level! 4. Will buy a new car, but......the last new one I bought was nearly 20yrs ago! 5. The car I'd most like to drive is a: Porsche - speed and efficiency. Little engines can do big things too! 6. The motorcycle I'd most like to ride is a: VESPA! (smallest engine of course!) 7. I love rollercoasters! NO - remeber keep the wings level damn it! 8. I bought my first smartphone in: I STILL DON'T OWN ONE! 9. An airframe parachute is: Nice, but not necessary 10. I'm willing to pay over $50 for a fine bottle of wine because I can taste the difference and the better product is worth it. - HELL NO! 11. My dream aviation trip would take me - Distant Island - I enjoy the long range flight (lean of peak) and I have been known to be socially awkard at times. Hiking is too much work. Sports involves too many people and too much excitement. 12. I prefer driving a car with: Automatic - they invented those things for a reason. Let's keep this simple please. 13. Reducing my carbon footprint is: If you don't make me work at it I'll do it. I consider flying LOP to be my contribution to reducing my emissions. 14. If I were a U.S. military pilot, the airplane I'd most like to fly is a: Ok, an F/A-18, I have a bit of an edge, but let's not get too exicted about this. C-17 is just too big, remember I prefer the Vespa over the Harley! AND THE ANSWER IS..... MOONEY 201. Congrats YOU ARE A MOONEY PILOT! Now crack open those hangars doors and go fly 'em! Note: I put in my own answers and got a P-51, great, but I'll never be able to afford to own one. So cheers to the Mooney! Blue Skies! 1 Quote

Oscar Avalle Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Mine was a 201!!! So I got my M20c.... Quote
carusoam Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 I'm dissapointed... That must be rigged... I wanted fastest, American, factory built, N/A, four seat, single I specifically answered that being concerned about my carbon foot print (while flying) was wholly and completely un-American. They still gave me the Mooney 201. I was hoping for an O3, a Screamin Eagle, or at least a Missile. How efficient is an F18 flown by Maverick anyway? Did any of you guys tap the Prius button? Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

sreid Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 I first answered honestly and it said I should get a 201. Then, I answered all the questions by picking the answer I most disagreed with. It said I should get an Aviat Husky. I guess if I ever see a pilot flying one of them, I should stay away because our personalities would conflict too much. I wonder how many different planes the quiz has to chose from! Quote
orionflt Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 marking the top answer on all the questions gets you a P-51 mustang..... Bottom a Gippsaero airvan Quote
