Parker_Woodruff Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 Ok, the red has got to go. I made the mistake of sending my yokes down to Aero Comfort in San Antonio since it was just so convenient to Kerrville, and now I've negotiated the purchase of 4 seats re-foamed and re-upholstered in gray leather. I'd also like to redo my sidewalls and overhead while the seats are out, but I have an issue. Somewhere along the line, my pilot side window trim and passenger door trim got replaced with non-round, very yellowed, window trim (photo below). The issue with round windows isn't the only issue. The plastic is also much thicker than stock, and if I re-cover in Euroleather it could make closing the door...well...not a very good fit. If it comes to worst I can always just repaint. Does anyone know a source for round window trim before I do the sidewalls? and something that won't be too pricey... FYI the last two photos were the seller's photos. My yokes had about 2/3 the paint remaining, the sidwall trim is falling off, and the front plastic is yellowing a lot. Seat is an example of what I'm going for... Quote
scottfromiowa Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 I don't know about the window trim, but those seats are YUMMY Parker! Nice Quote
hansel Posted May 25, 2010 Report Posted May 25, 2010 My understanding is that plane plastics does not make the modern round window trim-- only plastics for early model Js. Let me know if you hear otherwise. Quote
Amelia Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 I was a little shocked when you mentioned the "mistake" of sending work to AeroComfort. Then I realized the "mistake" was costing you for four gorgeous seats and Euroleather. My bet is that you'll find that decision to be one of the loveliest "mistakes" you've made. Quote
231Pilot Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Really nice seats....I'm a little jealous, but not ready to fund a similar mistake. As for getting rid of the red, I've got burnt orange seats in my J, and they are still in really good condition so I can't justify the change....yet. Quote

scottfromiowa Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Thankfully our Mooney's live...and unthankfully, so do the 70's colors Quote

Parker_Woodruff Posted May 27, 2010 Author Report Posted May 27, 2010 Quote: DaV8or Most of the crimes against color I have seen have been owner induced and can't really be blamed on the '70s. The colors may have been inspired by a '70s acid trip though... I think it might make a good coffee table book for pilots. I'll run around photographing planes and title the book; "When Bad Things Happen To Good Airplanes". Quote
scottfromiowa Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Beautiful Parker...Pardon my drool. Quote
Magnum Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Quote: Parker_Woodruff Mine was installed in the mid-90s surprisingly. Just got the yokes back... Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted May 27, 2010 Author Report Posted May 27, 2010 With MAPA discount it was $540. Took them about 2 or 3 working days. Quote
DaV8or Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 OK, those yokes are ridiculously cool! You have to settle down. Your plane is getting too nice too fast. Quote
Paul Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 I am in the planning stage to redo the interior of my "79 M20K. Painting the interior is not a very good option due to the number of cracks. I feel covering the interior is the only way to do my mooney the justice she deserves. Does anyone have a resource for fabric covering? In addition, how much material will I need? Quote
Amelia Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 When Hector at AeroComfort.com quoted my interior job, he talked about the cloth option as being very handsome. I went with the Pleather or Ultraleather, just because my backseat pax are sticky-handed toddlers, but he does both, and would probably be willing to give you specifics. Quote
KSMooniac Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Parker, that is a huge improvement, isn't it? I never liked the white yokes... Quote
231Pilot Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 The paint looks good in your avatar, don't know how old or new it is .... are you going to stick with that or just finish making N19NS a new airplane? Quote

231Pilot Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Payoff is a wonderful thing! I have the luxury of having passed the payoff dates on my 201, my car, my truck and my wife's car. Next up on the list is my house.....that one's going to take a little more time, but we'll get there. Now if I can just keep all those motorized conveyances in good working order I can do paint this year, interior after that:) Quote

Parker_Woodruff Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 So I decided to help out my local economy today and got the round window door/window panels ordered from Mooney for $300/side. Hoping to have a functional aircraft at the start of July just in time for a visit to St. Louis. We'll see... Quote
Mcstealth Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 he he.. Funny.... The upgrade looks good. David Quote
FlyingAggie Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 Parker, What will it cost to have them installed? Are you doing it in conjunction with a repaint?
