PTK Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 My fellow Brothers and Sisters in Mooney: Looking for a source for those tiny phillips screws that hold the yoke grip cover plates in the 201. There are two of them diagonally on blank grip covers. Looking for new ones. Also what size are they? Any info is always greatly appreciated!! Quote
jetdriven Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 They look like a #2-56 x 3/8" flush head screw. Local hardware store or hobby shop may have them Measure one with a digital dial caliper. More info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Thread_Standard Quote
Hank Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 It may be easier to take one out (with a matching itty bitty Phillips screwdriver) and take the screw to the hobby shop to match. Put it in a small baggie so you don't lose it enroute. Most hobby shops that carry RC airplane gear will sell 4-packs of many sizes for ~$2. Quote
ALP Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 McMaster Carr. Figure size with jetdriven's chart. You will have them the next day. Quote
N601RX Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Most aircraft screws have 100 degree heads. Not sure about these. Hardware store ones are 82deg. Quote
PTK Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 THANK YOU everyone for your all your help and advice! I will measure and be sure I get the right one. I'm glad they're readily available. If it's standard it should be 82 degrees but you never know! Quote
PTK Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 I measured it. It looks like 1/4" length and 82 degree flat. It's 2.5mm major diameter which makes it #3 and it's course. 3-48. Thanks again! Quote
M016576 Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 I measured it. It looks like 1/4" length and 82 degree flat. It's 2.5mm major diameter which makes it #3 and it's course. 3-48. Thanks again! I took one to Diamond hardware (like a Home Depot), and they had matching screws there. Perfect fit, total cost for 4 was less than fifty cents. Quote
PTK Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 I didn't think Home Depot would have it but I'll give it a try! Thanks for the tip! Quote
PTK Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 Update: This screw is an MS24693-BB2. It's size 4-40. Quote
