I'm researching more parts projects for my company to possibly manufacture and certify if there truly is a need for them. Thank you. David
carusoam Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Is there anything that can be done for the locator blocks (up and down) that would improve the C's ability to stay on its feet when down or keep it's legs up while in flight. A number of times each year this same issue bites somebody. The original design has a tendency to wear into an oval shape. A new carbon fiber lighter version with a reconsidered design may make sense for some. My C could have used one. Just thinking out loud, -a-
RangerJim Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 An STC'ed kit of LED/halogen/whatever bulbs and fixtures necessary to replace to replace every incandescent bulb on the aircraft with ergonomically and electrically efficient and dependable lighting without requiring sheet metal work or insane debates with IA's and/or FSDO personnel. Panel fuel gauges that work and bear at least a tenuous relationship to fuel on board.

JohnB Posted January 15, 2014 Report Posted January 15, 2014 Rocker panel Switches!!! Things like boost pump, landing light alternator light swtiches go out and need replacement frequently. The current wait time is over 3 months for most of these and they cost anywhere from $250 to $450 each given only one place makes them that can be used in the airplane. i was hoping this would get better when the factory opened, but so far no. Rhumbline Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 My mechanic cautioned me not to break the fuel selector valve. A replacement kit's supposedly around 4,000 clams so I wince every time I touch it!
KSMooniac Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 I'd believe $4k from Mooney... much less from LASAR but that would be for used and hopefully overhauled. I think ailerons would be a good bet for Sabremech...doubt Mooney would release drawings, but they could be reverse-engineered easily enough, and well within the capability of a shop familiar with sheet metal. Elevators would be next, but the modern ones require the stamped skins and that would be difficult.

jetdriven Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 I bought a replacement fuel selector kit from LASAR for something around $1500 a few years ago. LASAR can also overhaul some models. Bad, but not 4K. At least it wasn't three or four years ago. Jim We put new o-ring seals and detent springs in our fuel selector for around 50$ from lasar. We have the dukes fuel selector like the 70s Mooneys have.
