yvesg Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Come on you wimp, it's not even minus 40 yet! Not minus 40 however here is what was waiting for us waking up this morning. Yves Quote
Jamie Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 I'm looking forward to flying over snowcover. I've only done it once, and that was a long time ago. But I like the way the world looks covered in fluffy ice. Quote
Hank Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 I'm looking forward to flying over snowcover. I've only done it once, and that was a long time ago. But I like the way the world looks covered in fluffy ice. It's pretty to look at, but it makes pilotage difficult because many landmarks are difficult to see. Watch your wingtips taxiing around, too, as the snow can be quite high after plowing. I took my wife to Latrobe, PA for Valentine dinner at the airport chophouse; the flight was uneventful and smooth, the moonlight reflected well off of the snowy ground, and the airport had been well-scraped. On the ramp, the snow was mounded about 10-12' high. The taxiways were wide enough to not be a problem, but at a non-commercial airport it would have been a concern. 1 Quote

Hank Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 "Pilotage"? Careful, you're showing your age. ; ) That's how my CFI taught me in 2006-07! Still works when not IMC, and I didn't get that until 2010. Flew my Mooney up & down the Appalachians VFR looking out the window, not at the 430W on my panel. Quote
MtPleasantFlyer Posted December 3, 2013 Author Report Posted December 3, 2013 Enjoy the new to you C. If you like to work on your machine, you will enjoy much of the advice like how to replace that ragged thing next to the door and the matching seal that goes with it. I started with a 65C as well, it grew... -a- What is that peice called? Can't seem to find it. Quote
carusoam Posted December 4, 2013 Report Posted December 4, 2013 Thanks Jim! The welt is an enjoyable first project. Low cost, and it eliminates a huge eyesore. Save the old one and use it as a template. The DAD didn't say anything until he saw the new one in place. I wish I had replaced it sooner! Best regards, -a- Quote
