  1. Interesting TFR in NE gulf. I guess they are retrieving a first stage booster? However, it says rocket launch. Any of our Mooney rocket owners doing operations from an aircraft carrier?
  2. Generally I have had good experiences with Spruce. However, for engine parts I suggest. I have had good service form both of them Seth at Performance Aircraft Parts, Inc. in Arkansas870-423-3322 or 918-836-6872
  3. Ok so essentially a pre-buy is remove certain inspection panels, belly panels and cowling to have a look see and perform some non-invasive or destructive testing. I know a lot of people will turn the PPI into an annual if they purchase the plane. One method is for you or your mechanic open it up at your hangar and the buyer bring his selected mechanic to the hangar to do the PPI and then you close it up afterward. This way the plane is in your hangar and it does not matter what the visiting mechanic finds you cannot be held hostage. When I bought my first Mooney the owner ferried it to the shop and the mechanic and I went to work under the plane opening it up. Afterwards we closed it up and I bought the plane. Since I dove to the field where the mechanic was I flew the plane home a few weeks later. The second Mooney the owner had the plane open when I arrived did the inspections and then bought it. I had to fly it home a couple of weeks later because I drove there. I was without a plane at the time.
  4. The book 1984 read it very interesting. It is happening now. Also read Animal Farm it too is happening now as well.
  5. if it's not written down it did not happen. The regs also only require 1 year of records except for STC items.
  6. I'm in the process of taking an IO-360A1A from an E and putting it on my F. So they go both ways. Yes having a spare engine to overhaul prior to swap is nice and not necessarily cheaper.
  7. You just have to be less crazy than the one giving you the test.
  8. Just to note it appears that the rotors on the mars helicopter resemble the Prandtl propeller design. Wide root and very narrow tip for high speed operation and Mars DA is pretty high compared to earth.
  9. I have all the mods except presti cowl and lower gear doors. I plan on 145 but fly it LOP. Usually right on for my flights. If you put all mods on an F or E you will go trans-sonic.
  10. We all know that it is quantities of scale. The very popular C182 with approximately 23,500 built over 64 years averages out to 367 planes a year. I'm not sure how many Cessna averaged over the last 5 years but I am sure is is much less than 367. It would be nice if C,B P and M could produce 1 or more planes a day every day and sell them at the same rate. However, I do not think between all manufactures of small airplanes you the market to sell 1,500 plus new units a year.
  11. Yes and we still change clean vacuum system filters in the cabin every year because of old habits.
  12. I'm in Savannah working. I didn't plan on going this year since work raised its ugly head.
  13. Check with Alan He just parted out a 67F @Alan Fox
  14. I am always glad to see someone wanting to restore a long neglected airplane. Just go in with your eyes open knowing it it will take a lot of time and effort to get the plane in good shape.
  15. sounds like it could be a leak somewhere.
  16. no float charger but I do fly often usually once a week. This instance I had just flown to Houston several days earlier.
  17. Well I'm getting ready to get a new battery for mine. I've had the Gill 7035-28 in my plane for 4 years now. Yesterday's start the prop seemed slow.
  18. flight aware gets some of their info from private people installing ADSB listening posts.
  19. Just wondering f you can reverse it as well?
  20. I just finished building an engine for mine. I had an extra so time was not an issue. I worked with the MX on teardown and to put it together. All the specialized critical tasks were sent out the shops that do that work, cylinders, cranks cases etc. Can Bob fish the engine in his garage or yours's or a patio or carport? That could be an option you don't need much space. Heck you could do it in you living room if no one else in the house objects.
  21. nah it has Garmin radios in it.
  22. call it a landing light we have control over that circuit. I have thought about how to put a light in one of the inspection panels and point it down or point 15 to 45 degrees down from straight ahead.
  23. The good thing about this one is everybody walked off the plane and they flew the plane out a few weeks later.
  24. I would expect to see Snoopy and the red baron on the nose
  25. The landing lights are not required devices in our planes, and the FAA allows us to do anything on that circuit we want under preventive maintenance. Also with the enhanced safety program the FAA is pushing maybe an STC is not needed only the correct owner provided parts to make it happen?? Minor modification rules as well may apply.
