  1. 4. For all of the composite props what's the TBO on these? MT SB-1 says 1800 hours???? 6 years??? McCauley 2000 hours 6 years? Hartzell ?? I know from other posts Canada has a calendar limit as well as hours and the US does not.
  2. You are going to buy a new propeller for an E,F or J model (naturally aspirated, 200HP) and assume for the moment costs and weight are not factors. @Cody Stallings Which one would you get? Which one it the most efficient in turning HP and torque into usable thrust? Which one is the quietest? Your own question? I expect the answer to each will be different.
  3. rent your out to them everybody wins. Really nice you spent a lot of time putting it together.
  4. I have the 15kW generac (for 15 years) but it runs for 15 minutes at full speed every week and no issues with the oil. I think the new ones run at a lower speed and less time trying to be friendly to the neighbors. However, appears not friendly to the generator.
  5. I haven't changed my flying, or driving much. I go where want when I want and where I need when I need. I'd say more but I'll keep to the topic.
  6. Depending on what you paid for them light-speed will give you a discount on a new set trading in the old ones. Or just go to light-speed and have them fix them up for you. I just had my sierra headset done $175 looked like brand new when I got them back.
  7. don't ask don't tell
  8. Good catch and I'm glad it didn't cause you any serious problems. "Controls Free and Correct" a line item in all of our pre-runup checklists. Always do it don't just say it! Make sure you always to go stop to stop.
  9. Cool I was trying to figure out what was on the front of the plane then I realized it was a student's solution to W&B calculations that needed some correcting.
  10. We had three but now 2 of about 25 flying planes total at the field.
  11. Another question if buying a new cylinder which manufacturer and reasons why? ECI? Superior? Lycoming?
  12. https://corsairpower.com/ Corsair website is above. This is interesting I like it and would be tempted being I am getting ready to do an engine for my F model. Looking at the website they are still navigating the FAA bureaucracy and paperwork to get there. You could go experimental with them in an experimental category. As for normal flying my opinion is you advertise on the side of the plane with vinyl decals station the new engine type and how good it is then every where you go is an maintenance, proficiency or exhibition flight. Advertised cost is $50k and the will give you up to $14k for your old engine to be deducted from the $50k. The corsair runs about 2GPH less than a Lycoming running at 9.5GPH
  13. Since we are talking cylinder types. Which one is the best? If you are buying new cylinders which would you get? I know this might be a LOP vs ROP type thing.
  14. Nothing that I know of. Since you are having a shop do it and the first one for you make sure they do the finger screen. If you are mechanically inclined and like getting your hands dirty consider learning to do the oil change yourself. Save a few $$ and get a little more intimate with your girlfriend.
  15. @Microkit did you think about adding an announcement at the 100ft mark when the system begins announcements "100 feet, Confirm Gear Down and Locked" This would be a good last minute reminder for those with retracts and if being installed on a fixed gear the statement could be silenced during installation.
  16. Just a drip no need to worry about that. It will last another 200 hours.
  17. I've flown the tail dragger model a couple of times. Not a bad airplane. Nice for fun slow flights.
  18. Great maybe it can be scanned and shared with the group?
  19. typically 8 to 10 miles
  20. +12500 flying I have not done it but on very rare occasions. I have played with O2 but really prefer to avoid the hassle. I think there is something to this statement. Turbo charging or Turbo normalizing is a great idea to maximize your performance at any altitude you choose to fly at. Pressurizing and or clean sheet designs are nice when you are selling 100s of planes a year. When you are barely selling any that is tough unless you have huge pockets back filling the bank account. The problem is our planes and almost all GA planes are built so good they last for many decades. This is not good for the factory who makes new ones. The buy in costs for a new on is so high that the average GA owner will keep and maintain the older plane simply because he can't afford a new one. I know I'm dreaming but if I could get a new M20 for $100 to $150k today I would consider it but not at 8 to 9 times that amount. As an individual I can't justify it. If I were independently employed and had my own business then I could possibly justify it.
  21. what about using a nebulizer to add moisture to the system. Maybe one powered by 12VC or 28VDC.
  22. There are some who will know what a medical is. Those in aviation divisions of law enforcement and those LEOs who are pilots too.
  23. Last week from GA to home I had 1001 and thought that was somewhat strange.
  24. Well we finally got one here in New Orleans after being in the cone 7 times this year. I was directly in the eye. The hangar and the plane are fine. Slightly more issues and minor damage at the house. Power is still out and running on generator. Heard reports of several planes being damaged at KNEW and KASD.
