  1. Make sure you verify the RPM's. If it your governor was set to you tack and it is off you will not be getting the same power.
  2. Where do you get the bulk fuel from?
  3. You and the rest of Phoenix:) The fun part about flying over is you get to see all your neighbors backed up in their cars at the Pine Valley border check point on I-8. Are you on a team for OTL or just spectating?
  4. Have you crossed checked your FF with actual fuel used? If your engine runs strong and consistent in flight like you say but your FF dances all over the place I would think its a faulty FF transducer.
  5. As mentioned above 29.5-29.8 gph sea level takeoff FF. Make sure you get all 2700 rpm. When my mechanic was adjusting my rpm he came up to me afterwards and was still shaking. I guess he never had a plane pull itself along with the wheels locked and chirping down the taxi way On days when the temperatures are high I take off and climb with the low boost pump on. I have found on my plane with OAT above 76F that I will have a few run away EGT's from fuel vaporizing. The fuel pump keeps them all in line. Have fun, it's a great setup!
  6. If it's just the 3 of you take out the front passenger seat. In the Mooney catalogue they called the executive seating configuration. It will make it easier to get the car seat in and out and give your wife some leg room and a work area for diaper changes.
  7. As I read the briefing strip, If you have the local altimeter you can use the lower minimums. If you have to use the Charlotte altimeter you have to use the higher minimums.
  8. Distant memory of mine but when I looked at AOA indicators for general aviation they where set up for a particular flight configuration, usually landing. My assumption was that they where not accurate in other flight configuration. In reading the variation of go around procedures I can see a lot of potential error with AOA indicator.
  9. Did I read girlfriend? Can someone that has a teenage boy give this man talk:)
  10. If I had 2 doors I think I would still use the passenger side to get out! There is no way I could get out of a Mooney in that low reclined seat position with out roll, step and pull routine. It is funny though for years 2 doors was on everyone's wish list and now it's getting bashed.
  11. Obama has given use enough TFR's playing golf at KPSP. I glad that will be over with soon!
  12. I think Ace Ventura Pet Detective got compensated Hollywood style:) The dog and owner where pretty hot!
  13. Dang! Where are you all flying to that you need this range? I have topped off to the full tank level at cheap fuel stops but I think my longest flights in the Screaming Eagle are around 5.5 maybe 6 hours. The 89 gallons gave me more than enough legal reserve. I bought my plane used with resealed tanks and I can get 99.8 gallons in it. I drained the tanks completely and then added fuel incrementally to calibrate the sight gauges on the wings and develope a dip stick. The sight gauges where low compared to my calibration and I attribute that to the tank resealed. I recommend everyone do this. I have much better confidence in my fuel calibration. I was shocked to find out in the Eagle POH that if I filled my tanks to cover the bottom of the stand pipe that it should be 75 gallons. When I did my calibration it was in the low 60's similar to what my previous J was, basically 45 minute to an hour of discrepancy. I flight plan at 13.5 gph at 173ktas and always land with slightly more fuel and slightly faster than I planned for. It is amazing how far you can travel in these machines!
  14. You guys are crossing the line with his birds!! I bet for thanksgiving he has a Tofu turkey. But the new little lady does seem to have an influence on the current wardrobe.
  15. Being a good neighbor did you just blow the snow on the plane next to you?
  16. Pretty cool!
  17. BTW you and the wife are a great looking couple!
  18. Flight engineer, code for bootlegger! Checking weight and balance after dropping off a load of Canadian Whiskey:) I estimate about 790lbs of it. I see he is also auditing the the receipt book and appears to be in disbelief with the volume of fuel consumed even ar the low cost of $0.31/gal.
  19. I had a mount in the same area of the horizontal stabilizer as you but moved it more toward the fuselage. When I was flying one time I was looking out at it and I realized that in some weird circumstance the GoPro could possibly flip backwards and get caught under the counterbalance of the elevator. Yes that would be extremely unlikely but that means it would most certainly happen to me!
  20. That very well could be Clarence's plane in that add, all that room and 8 pistons pulling you along! That's back in the day of cocktails, cigarettes and cheap gas. The golden era of aviation:)
  21. I actually saw one of your old birds with the art work covered over. It now says....GoodYear...on the side!
  22. To buy an extra for the G500 they wanted $99 and it's a 8GB. I still have my original cards and have some old cards from cameras that I simply reformatted and used. I alternate between the 2 when updating. For the GTN I think you only need 4GB but I have an 8 and a 16GB which work fine.
  23. Tom, time to pull the chute on this thread!
  24. Generic cards work just fine!
  25. That's what your supposed to use in the Harley Davison!
