  1. This sounds like a house of barking Chihuahuas around here!
  2. Looking great! I love new engines:) For those of you that would like another option to freshen up the baffling is to powder coat them. I did mine in Aluminum color and I thought they look pretty good. Here is a picture of my last J when I put on the LyCon cylinders. Another tip for those that have alternators is to put on an extra belt and zip tie it down out of the way. Saves your bacon in the envent you loose a belt. Keeps you from having to pull the prop. You can see how I did it in the picture.
  3. Nice! That is going to be torture not being able to fly it until July! Oh well something to look forward to. Be safe on your deployment and thank you for your service!
  4. I bet the recent rains have torn it up pretty good. Unfortunate!

    I'm In!
  6. How come you have a TIT on your monitor? Is that the original EGT probe? I always have been curious between the difference of the 2. Your CHT temps are very similar to mine. 1 & 6 always way cooler than the rest. 5 the hottest even after the pixie hole.
  7. I'm really sorry for your loss! Thank you for sharing your story and photos.

    Mexico Trip

I'll join you guys. I've got the bug to start flying down there again. It would be good to get a refresher on the process.
  9. Wait your not a turbo you can fly up there!
  10. Did you take note of the FF at take off? Was EGT reading from the factory Moritz gauge or an engine monitor? What where the CHT temps with that EGT reading?
  11. I'm surprised they only estimated 10-12 hours!
  12. I would also like to flip the question to you. Why are so many turbo charge planes not flying in the mid to high teens? I'm assuming people would buy plane that fit 90% of there mission profile like I did. The couple time a year go up to 17,500' on few trips that I do I'm happy only going 173 KTAS, taking 7 more minutes in the climb and burning 10.4 gph. The 90% of my trips I happy with the simplicity, reliability and economy of my NA engine. Trust me I have turbo and twin envy but doesn't pencil out.
  13. The Ovations economy really starts to shine when you climb high. This is where you can see J economy 17 and 16.7 nmpg based on fuel burn and TAS.
  14. This give you an idea of my perspective. Keep in mind my panel a lot taller than yours. But with my first panel layout I couldn't easily see the engine monitor.
  15. With the last software update you only need 1 card in the bottom slot of the G500. This required a new card with larger memory for the increase in screen resolution and the fact everything goes on 1 card. I don't used Jepp Charts on the G500 I use the standard NACO that I purchase with my Garmin pilotpak for my G500/750/650/Pilot combo. Im not sure with the Jepp charts you would need an addition card for the charts but with the standard you do not. I did buy the the Jeppessen charts for my Garmin Pilot app. Which I prefer since during approaches in IMC I dont like having the charts on my G500 screen. I prefer the jeppesen charts on my yoke. The charts on the G500 have to be manipulated to much in my opinion to see all the information.
  16. Looks good! Keep in mind that your right yoke horn will be in front of your engine monitor. Mine is on the left side of my panel and had to play with the height to be able to easily see it t monitor all the perameters.

    Very cool on YouTube!
  18. The assumption is that the K-factors where 100% correct. The proof is at the pump when both planes start at a known level and finish with a refill to that level.
  19. You make a great point with the 3 models. When I play around with economy and J speeds in my plane I usually see 15 nmpg vs in my last J I would see 17 nmpg. With the those power settings in my plane I would expect the engine to last 3X the recommended TBO.
  20. Another way to look at it is if you fly the R or in my case the S at J speeds they are very similar in economy. I have flown my S with my friend and his C at his speed on a 3 hour trip and we where shocked how close the fuel burn was when we stop to fill up with some cheap feul. I can't remember off hand what the difference was but it was not as different as you would have thought.
  21. Looks promising, thanks for the reminder!
  22. Very good news!
