  2. Nice! Turbo with TKS great combo!!
  3. For some reason I get the feeling we won't see the reduction of fuel taxes that supports the current system and only a raise in fees to support the new proposed system. Otherwise I currently don't have a problem with the idea but reserve the right to change my mind as I learn more.
  4. I allow them to slip in and out of the shoulder strap while in cruise at altitude but not if they are in the front seat. The 2 in the back have them under their arms in the photo but are still connected. Seat belts and shoulder straps are on the takeoff and landing checklist. The back seats are low for the little ones, booster seats would probably help but we don't have them any more
  5. Non of which are on the FAA approved drug list.
  6. That was Billy Idol singing in the copilot position and Lady Ga Ga in the back. I could isolate from them but my son in the back just pulled off his headset. I then showed him how he could pull just the phone jack to not hear them and he was happy!
  7. What!....We Mooney pilots are mocked in other GA communities, pray tell?
  8. Major mile mile stone for me, all 3 kids at once on a flight in the plane! Thank goodness for pilot isolation on the intercom:) we flew from San Diego (KMYF) to Santa Ynez (KIZA) last weekend for a great weekend.
  9. Severe clear yesterday in SoCal. Short breakdown of my commute from San Diego Montgomery field KMYF to Imperial KIPL. https://youtu.be/KhaxBVgnZ0E
  10. He's made a few funny ones!
  11. The processor will deep freeze the meat. Go to Costco and buy the cheap soft coolers. You won't need or want ice since the meet has been deep frozen, it will stay that way for hours. The coolers have handles on them which makes it easy to maneuver. You get about 25% of the carcass weight in processed meat. You can put 30lbs of meat in each soft cooler. 1200-1300 lbs Bison will yield about 230 lbs of meat and you will need 5 to 6 coolers. 3 in the baggage area 2-3 in the back seat. I take out my back seats which makes it easier to put gear in and also gives me 25lbs of useful load.
  12. What would the add look like for our friends looking to haul heavy loads from Columbia? I can haul an Elk, backpack and Bow pretty well in my Mooney with enough fuel nonstop from Jackson Wyoming to San Diego. That would be a cool add!
  13. This article says that the pilot had a hard time getting the plane started. 3 separate attempts? Always tragic especialy when kids are involved. http://ktla.com/2017/02/28/teen-among-3-killed-in-riverside-plane-crash-ntsb-investigation-underway/
  14. Living close to Mexico growing up we used to laugh at the check stops with armed soldiers and the corrupt government. Unfortunately now that I've grown ups now see we are no different here at least in California. It's an unfortunate down hill slide I hope can be reversed some day.
  15. I completely abide by the 380 as a good temp to try not to surpass but listening to the manufacture the cylinder are built with the fact that they loose significant strength with elevated temperatures. I think it is Bill Ross(?) that discussses this in one of his webinars from TCM.
  16. You will have to pause the video to see the info you want but this was taken at cylinder breaking after I put a new top end on my J. Everything firewalled in this video.
  17. Are you sure it's just not the big hands?
  18. Mitch your last post inspire me to invite another WW II vet. William (Bill) Allen, 93, was a Bombadier who made handy work of the Norden bombsite during the war. He very well could have been protected by Captian Moyer. After the war he became a well known economist and taught at UCLA and had a radio segment called the Midnight economist. It should be fun to talk with these guys, I'm looking forward to it. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the weather will hold up so we all can have a great visit! See you all soon!
  19. As I suppected they where in the wrong orientation. Thanks for fixing them. Cheeseburgers on me for the big ladies! But not literally on me:)
  20. Last weekend I flew back from KSMO to KMYF in IMC almost the entire flight. Not a very long flight but rewarding to put my skills to work! I attached a couple of photos that would be a more common use of my IR, getting on top of the marine layer. Hopefully they show up in the correct orientation.
  21. Amazing! Glad your here to give us a write up!
  22. Looks like a lot of fun!
  23. I've been really happy with this one. If a plane is taxiing in front of me it will detect it. http://www.aeromedix.com/safety-equipment/carbon-monoxide-detectors/ultra-low-level-carbon-monoxide-detector-co-experts-2016
  24. I heard about this crash but didn't know he was in a Mooney. I read it was from carbon monoxide poisoning in another forum. I love my CO detector!
