  1. I'm good with KSBP@11am.
  2. I get the feeling that weather will be a roll of the dice this El Nino season. The feeling I get is the 10th is when more people can make it. I would prefer the 10th but will certainly make it if its the 2nd.
  3. I'm with you, I'd be failing out of that 727 like Spicoli out a VW van!
  4. Don't worry we wont Californicate you to bad:)
  5. Can the moderator and a "Brawl" section?
  6. When I get to my other computer tonight I might be able to find some pictures. It's really easy to do. Airtex made the head rest cushion and leather cover, its just the standard ones they make, no special instruction. The foam cushion has a slot in it that is offset so it projects forward and it glues to the flat aluminum area. Then the cover is stretched over it. You would never know it home made except that the poles are not chrome which doesn't ever show because they are inserted all the way.
  7. The Zuni point and Dragon corridor are the most sceanic in my opinion and make for an easy round trip.
  8. Imagine a taco shell with 2 post coming from the center at 90 degrees. The sheet of aluminum is pop riveted on one side, then wrapped over the end of the rods/tube and then riveted to the opposite side. Hope that helps.
  9. Blue jeans there, cigars and rum back? I think it's the return flight that makes the money.
  10. I made some for my last J pretty easy. It just required tin snips, drill, pop rivet gun and hacksaw for tools. 2 aluminum hollow rods and aluminum sheet per seat. I put the rods in the seat and taco'd the aluminum sheet over them and pop riveted it to place. The upholsterers did the rest.
  11. I'm with Carusoam on this, stuck or broken ring. Burning oil from what I understand will cause slightly higher EGT's and lower CHT because of the delayed combustion event. If you do have data to anylize you might look for that. Ring bypass should be audible with a compression test. I don't know if a bad valve stem could allow that much oil to pass but might be worth looking at. A good bore scope would be beneficial.
  12. 62 not bad, run the engine again and do another test. How much hotter is it? 5 runs hot because of the alternator in front of it. Do a search for Pixie holes. It's a method to get 5 in line with the others. How do you run your engine, ROP or LOP? I would also do an in flight mag check and download the engine data and if you want post it. All of use lawn chair mechanics can give you plenty of cheap irrelevant advice:) I'm not a Mx BTW.
  13. I have access to a friends Hangar and car. When that's not available I have used taxi, shuttles, and rental cars. If it's just 1 person shuttle is the most economical, 2 or more then look into taxi or rental. If your going just for the day taxi or shuttle are the most convent because they drop off and pick at the slope. No walking or mountian shuttle to the car. You can rent equipment at the slope around $45. I usually bring my own but I have been demoing new ski's which I do at the slope. If there are any other Mooney skiers out there I can give a heads up before I go and join in the fun. I always try to do day trip during the week that way I can get enough runs in by 2pm to burn up my legs and want to go home. Call Hot Creek Aviation the FBO and they are helpful. Gas prices are really reasonable for a mountian resort so I always get fuel when I'm there.
  14. Looks like some chemical got on the paint and streaked backwards.
  15. You need to put a hula skirt on that thing! You must be missing a bolt in the back.
  16. Either work for me at this point.
  17. Today was yet another day made possible by Mooney! Left the house at 5am and back home at 5pm. The last storm that came through California laid down some awesome snow for a great day skiing. In this picture I'm standing at 11,053' and not flying.
  18. Wow what a great response! I'm in!
  19. Buurrrrrrr!!!
  20. If you go to KGCN and want to go to Williams, flagstaff and Sedona, I would fly into Valle(40G). They have reasonable rental cars and fuel. The Grand Canyon Railroad is do the Polar Express rides right now if your into that. If you are try to get night tickets.
  21. Aerostar or a 210. I don't fit in any of the Beech planes but on paper that would be the next best plane. I hit my head on the roof, to keep that from happening I have to turn around the rear club seating so i can recline enough but then I feel like I'm on a tall lawn chair leaning backwards. Not very comfortable.
  22. I wish Mike a speedy recovery!
  23. That is a fine looking aircraft! Good luck with your sale.
  24. You guys are motivating me to get the west coast group together!
  25. Erik I know your pain! Karson.......with a "K"
