benpilot Posted June 14, 2013 Author Report Posted June 14, 2013 Well I have seen Bravos for under 200k which is similar to asking prices for 252 and Rockets. Ovations the newer ones, no these are EXPENSIVE! BUT I see older ones for under 200k in few cases. It takes time and patience. Quote
Z W Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Comparing planes for sale can be difficult. There is always a reason a given plane is so cheap. Engine time, missing logs, damage history, non-waas. You have to really know what you are looking at, which is difficult for a student pilot, no offense intended. If you post and identify individual planes for sale the experts here are always happy to help spend your money, or warn you not to. Sometimes the cheapest list price for a model is the most expensive one, if you include the hidden costs. Quote
benpilot Posted June 14, 2013 Author Report Posted June 14, 2013 +1 Zane, I checked out a few planes and they were cheap for good reason: ancient avionics that most likely would need to be upgraded, high engine time, etc. So I learned a lesson: TANSTAAFL! I have heard its better to find the plane with what you want rather than the hassle of upgrade costs and time. Quote
KSMooniac Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 You can buy a pretty decent B55 Baron for WELL under $100k these days. The purchase price is just the ticket into the park... you still have to pay to ride! Would you like to feed and care for 12 cylinders and two props? Or pay more for a Mooney that is faster but can't carry as much for 1/3 the operational costs? 1 Quote
