aerobat95
Is this what I need to be ADS-B compliant?
Alan Fox
Yes
tony
Only if its the version of the 330 that has extended squitter. That model number is a GTX-330ES. Without the extended squitter, than no its not. Ray for reference: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=201&ra=true
Alan Fox
The extended squitter is a software upgrade from Garmin , 1200 dollars flat rate.... The new transponder with the upgrade is 6000 dollars....

PTK
A much better and most cost effective option to the ES (extended squitter) would be the GDL-88. It is a dual link box and provides you BOTH ADS-B IN & OUT. ADS-B In will give you the free wx and of course traffic. This is where ADS-B technology is moving offering us great benefits. No need to rush. As things solidify more, prices will certainly drop!
Alan Fox
The gdl-88 does not satisfy mode s but the 4550 price is pretty good .....The gdl 88 is 4k , and not available yet.....
PTK
6K is grossly inaccurate for the GTX-330ES. http://sarasotaavionics.com/search/Gtx330es
andrew
GDL-88 will comply with ADS-B under 18,000ft. Over 18k you'll require a 1080 transponder (i.e. the 330ES or equivalent) after 2020.

I think the good doctor is exactly right, you have 8 years to implement ADS-B, Best to wait and let the market forces and competition sort things out.
