Alcor CHT grounded probes carry a 3 year warranty.   The #4 CHT probe on Jolie's E model began reading approx. 100F below the other 3 cylinders.  With trouble shooting, we discovered that it was indeed the probe causing the discrepancy.  The probes are just out of the warranty [rats!].  I called Alcor and reached the CEO Michael [i'm sorry, I do not recall his last name] just by accident.  I described the situation and that my probes were now out of warranty.  Michael said he was not concerned with the warranty date at all.  He said that these probes don't normally fail.

Michael instantly said that he would send a new probe immediately.   He was concerned.  He did say the CHT probes will wear out and stop working, but they don't generally start fading away in this manner.  I sent the old probe to Alcor for their evaluation.  I just received a call from Rich [tech] who confirmed that the unit was defective.  Rich thought that perhaps the problem could have been from a bad weld as the unit was assembled.

Anyway, this is a quality response to a problem and with a happy ending.  Great customer service!

That is nice to hear about Alcor treating their customers well. I had a similiar experience with Sky-Tec last week on my starter. I've been having issues with it over the past few months so I had it sent in for an overhaul during my annual. We needed a quick turn around and Sky-Tec did not have a overhauled one to ship out so... viola! They gave me a brand new one for the overhaul price of $200.  Can't ask for any better than that!
