KSMooniac Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 My salvage J was delivered to my hangar on Sunday. Near-term plans are to sell most avionics and instruments since those are relatively easy and I only want the engine monitor. I plan to modify my Mooney dolly a bit to securely fasten to the steel cage since I now know where those points are, and then move it to my garage for further dismantling...hopefully by Thanksgiving. Then I'll gut the wing of everything potentially useful and dispose of the carcass, which might go to the scrap yard, or someone/some shop if a good spar is useful, or I might cut it up into a nice desk for the hangar. My plane is currently in another hangar so I'm motivated to get the big pieces out and my plane back in there. For those that might be interested, I plan for now to keep switches, circuit breakers, actuators, pumps, etc. for spares. I plan to scavenge the center console and engine controls (will need to be repaired) to replace my throttle quadrant and console. I also will (eventually) retrofit the overhead ventilation system to delete my pop-up cooling scoop that doesn't work very well. I'll also rebuild the seats from the salvage plane (especially the individual rear buckets) and upgrade my plane, then sell my seats that are still in great shape. I'm keeping all of the firewall-forward stuff as well to start assembling a replacement engine. So, for the scroungers... I'll sell just about everything else! Available now are an entire empennage (not ready to split it up yet), KFC-200 autopilot system, normal instruments, WX-10 stormscope system, seat belts, interior panels and carpet (pretty nice, but I need to clean them first). Today I dropped a KMA-24, KX-165, and KT-76A off at my avionics shop for bench-checking and IRAN. There is a nice GNS-430W that I already have some interest in, but it isn't sold quite yet. I plan to send the KI-256 and KI-525 gyros to Bob Bramble for bench checking and IRAN too pretty soon. This will be my attempt to itemize various parts that might be of interest to folks. If you are interested in something not on the list and specifically mentioned by me above, feel free to inquire! Unless otherwise specified, all electrical bits should be assumed to be 14V versions. Trays, connectors, antennae will be included as appropriate. KSMooniac Posted November 10, 2012 Author Report Posted November 10, 2012 I've got some PMs and want to clarify a bit... this is not my beloved '77 J, but another 1981 J that I purchased via salvage auction. It was involved in a landing accident, with only one minor injury fortunately, so there won't be any bad juju passed along with these parts. 1 Quote
63-C- Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 I am interested in control yokes & shafts to upgrade my C model. I might be interested in the front seats also. Please give me some prices. Thanks, Brent Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 12, 2012 Author Report Posted November 12, 2012 Quick update.... I was on a weekend trip and got a LOT of PM's asking about parts. I'll get back to everyone as soon as I can, and upload some pics soon too. Many folks are interested in the same parts, so I will be going by order of PM received to be as fair as I can. Thanks, Scott Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 12, 2012 Author Report Posted November 12, 2012 I think I'm caught up on all PM inquiries so far. I'll try to get to the hangar again Tue or Wed evening to get a round of pictures of the parts that are drawing interest so far. Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 13, 2012 Author Report Posted November 13, 2012 Pics of the interior panels and carpets are up in my album. I tried to make a separate album for the interior, but can't figure out that part of the forum software. It is needlessly complex IMO. Overall it is in very good shape with some minor staining on the carpets, but I think it would clean up very, very well with a steam cleaner. There is one light color stain or faded region on the center baggage compartment carpet section of the back panel. The grey leather is in very good condition throughout and it cleaned up nicely. The pilot armrest is the only area showing minor wear. If you like the colors, it would be a great drop-in interior for F/G/J/K models. The panels are constructed of a plastic sandwich board material, and then padded and covered with leather and carpet. The armrest recess areas are riveted in place with some aluminum angle too. I'm planning to keep the headliner, window trim, and hat rack pieces for now. Quote
rorythedog Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 Hi Scott, Can you tell me what you have in interior panels and what the condition is? Also the price? Many thanks, Larry Quote
smccray Posted November 21, 2012 Report Posted November 21, 2012 Scott- I'm interested in the clock as well as the Lasar visors. Can you send me a pic at your convenience? Scott Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 21, 2012 Author Report Posted November 21, 2012 PM sent to Larry and email pics to Scott M. I'll try to post more pics of the avionics and instruments this weekend. The KMA-24 and KX-165 are getting clean bills of health from my avionics shop, but the KT-76A is "not economically repairable" so I won't have that available. The 430W powered up and seems to function as expected when I tried it out. Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 27, 2012 Author Report Posted November 27, 2012 I picked up my freshly-serviced King boxes today from Bevan-Rabell here in Wichita and they're tagged and ready to go! I'm asking $350 for the KMA-24 and $1750 for the KX-165 (14V). Trays included if needed, but I haven't extracted them from the plane yet. I'm asking $7000 for the GNS-430W (with tray, connectors, antenna). Before I sell the -430W I will plug it into my plane and verify that it works as expected for comm, VOR nav, and an LPV approach. The visors have been sold 3 times already... I'm waiting on #1 guy to send money or let #2 buy them. I wish LASAR would put them back in production because they are really nice, and on par with the more expensive Rosen products IMO. I've had some inquires for the KFC-200 autopilot. I would love to sell it as a complete system with the wiring harnesses, mounting plates, servos, etc. for retrofit and will try to do that first before parting it out as spares for someone that already has one installed. Ditto for the KCS-55A system. Potential buyers should be fully aware of the installation task before buying either system, though! A couple guys were scared away due to shop estimates, but I still think it would be feasible with everything ready to go into another J. Please PM me for any specific part or picture requests and I'll get back to you as quickly as I can. Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 27, 2012 Author Report Posted November 27, 2012 The oil cooler has a bit of damage, but I'm going to keep it for my spares collection. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2 Quote

KSMooniac Posted January 7, 2013 Author Report Posted January 7, 2013 The panel pieces will be available for sale...hopefully by the end of the month after I get more pulled out of the plane. Quote
pilot urban Posted January 18, 2013 Report Posted January 18, 2013 Very intresting site. Had not heard of it before you mentioned it. I have been flying mooneys for over 40 years this has been a well kept secret. By the way have you been paid for the instrument cluster as it is listed. Thanks. Quote

rbridges Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I've got some PMs and want to clarify a bit... this is not my beloved '77 J, but another 1981 J that I purchased via salvage auction. It was involved in a landing accident, with only one minor injury fortunately, so there won't be any bad juju passed along with these parts. that was going to be my first question. good to hear. if you do find it in your heart to part with the "nav light" switch, I'd be interested. My switch works but the plastic cover is broken. Quote
johnboyk Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Do you have a retracting tube assembly, P/N 560244-501 from this salvage? Thanks. Quote
KSMooniac Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 I'm sure I have them, but haven't removed them yet to assess the condition. PM me if you're interested. Thanks Quote
