Oldguy Posted September 7 Report Posted September 7 (edited) I bought an EDM 900 for the J I had, but due to a litany of issues, it was never installed. I never even opened the box until today to take pictures, so yes, it is new and never installed. It was set up for my 1984 J with fuel flow. (my neighbor's hangar was next to mine, and I have been told he is selling his tail dragger, so look for other items from me in the next few days) $4500 + shipping $4300 + shipping. 00-Negative Posted September 8 Report Posted September 8 What would be required to install this on my M20E IO-360-A1A? e.g. Will I need to send it to JPI for reprogramming d/t different fuel tank quantities? -David 1

That would include all of the POH limits for redlines, tach arcs, etc. from your POH and any STC updates (such as a different prop). I still love my 900 after 10 years of use and would choose it again today. It is a great instrument. 1

While this is one of the best prices I have seen for a 900, sending it to JPI for reprogramming brings the cost up too close to a new purchase.

I sold an EI engine monitor when I upgraded our J to a JPI ED900. EI gave me an estimate of a couple hundred $$ to do the reprogramming. Curious- is JPI much higher than that?
LANCECASPER Posted September 10 Report Posted September 10 I have heard that in recent times JPI will do the re-program and e-mail it to you rather than having to send it back. Then you just plug into the usb port. Not sure of the cost though. 1

They said it likely could be done without sending it into them and the cost is $500. 1

Price was right, free.
0TreeLemur Posted Tuesday at 09:36 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:36 PM If eBay didn't charge so much commission, I'd buy this thing and list it there. This is a great price for a great engine monitor. IIRC when I bought this same system for my J a couple of years ago it cost closer to 6 AMU's. Somebody buy this! It's primary for everything. You can take out all your old analog fuel gauges, tach, and MP.
