My big 64 m20e project will be wrapping up with a text flight in June or July. The only thing holding it up is my 600115-005 ram air boot with a 35 week lead time.

I didn't realize my boot was in such bad shape. Maybe if someone  has  a new one sitting in the hangar on the shelf and is not needed at this time. I am willing to make it worth your while so you can order another one and still have some money left over.

I know its one of those parts that are difficult.

Thank for your consideration

Sincerely

Glenn

Do you happen to have two:D
I am in the same boat as OP. On LASAR's wait list.

No, sorry. I don't even know if I have one (see below). The back story is that a year ago I ordered one boot to keep as a spare (my own one is in good shape). I received mine about 4 months ago. I did not know there are more people with this problem, sorry. I told @Hradec that I would be willing to sell him mine for the cost of what LASAR charges for a new one, since I do not expect to need to use mine for the next half a year or so.

@varlajo and @Hradec -- What did Heather at LASAR tell you about the one you are on the waiting list for? How much are they charging for a new one, and when do they expect to ship new ones if you order one now? (I was going to call her on Monday.) If the answer is that they don't know when they are making new ones, I might end up holding on to the one I have.

I spoke with Dan R. at LASAR. He said officially 32-36 weeks, but they order in batches and sometimes people do not claim theirs. So the real wait time depends on how close your request is to the next batch order and whether or not any units from prior batches free up.

This part is crazy $$$ and is only going to get worse, I think this is going to become an owner produced part!
We need to put on heads together and start looking at some of these parts.

My boot is okay but when time comes that it needs to be replaced it will be a owner manufactured part.

Andrei,

Thank you for selling me your boot to keep my project moving forward. It was really nice to meet you and your neighbors at your airport.

Your airport will be one of my first destinations after I get my test flight and complex training completed. You've got a good looking M20E

Thank you,

Glenn Bukac

It would be nice to have other options for this part, and I’m sure it’s possible, but keep in mind that it’s critical.  The design and materials will have to support the operation and any abnormal operation (ice?) at least as good as the original.  If the duct collapses during use, it can completely cut off air to the engine- it is after the alternate air intake.  There has already been a crash due to a very poorly maintained duct collapse, so this could both help and hurt the argument for opp.

So back on April 10th, 2024 a topic was created, (LASAR Ordering Intake Ducts for B/C/D/G and E/F Models) and in that comment it was stated that the lead time was 35 weeks.  I am really curious of how many people have received their order.  So many people stated that they were handing over their cash and ordering their part, I held off on placing an order.

1. If the manufacturer is going to do a run, he isn’t making them to order, he will do a run of that part.

2. My boot is still in very good condition, so I have no sense of urgency.

My thought was when people start receiving their orders there will be an overrun and that is when I will purchase mine and place in a vacuum bag and store in a dark place.

In over a years time has anyone received any boot, or duct?

They started delivering them last fall right around their declared timeframe.  It would have been nice if they ordered extra, but it doesn’t seem like that happened.  More people will have to be willing to put up the $$, wait 8 months and keep one on the shelf.  That doesn’t seem great but it’s better than being grounded.

Ordered my C-model intake duct mid Apr 2024 received mid Jan 2025.  I keep it in the forward supply point.

I had replaced the intake duct in Sep 2010 as it had some holes and was quite deteriorated.  The replacement back then was much more robust, as is the one I received last Jan.

I received mine in about the estimated time.  Posted a pic of it in another thread when it came in with the P/N visible.  Installed a few weeks ago.
