Paul Thomas Posted Thursday at 09:27 PM Report Posted Thursday at 09:27 PM A tip to those buying parts online through eBay. I just bought an item, and during checkout, they automatically charged sales tax. There was an option to contact customer support, and I received a phone call right away from a human being. The representative was very kind and instructed me to complete the checkout, assuring me that the sales tax would be refunded within 60 days. I was impressed with how quickly I was able to reach someone and that they were able to resolve the issue, even though it's through an indirect process. Ideally, the representative should have the ability to remove the sales tax directly instead of issuing a refund. Quote
Oscar Avalle Posted Thursday at 09:41 PM Report Posted Thursday at 09:41 PM Same thing with aircraft spruce. At the end of the process you have the option to request tax exemption Quote
Brian2034 Posted Thursday at 10:19 PM Report Posted Thursday at 10:19 PM No sales tax in Florida? or am I missing something Quote
bigmo Posted Thursday at 10:30 PM Report Posted Thursday at 10:30 PM Aviation parts are tax exempt in many states. Ive bought a few aviation things on eBay and as long as they’re categorized right, eBay’s tax calculation generally works correctly. Quote
AndreiC Posted Thursday at 10:38 PM Report Posted Thursday at 10:38 PM In Wisconsin we pay no sales tax on aircraft parts or *labor*, which is nice. Quote
Brian2034 Posted Thursday at 10:40 PM Report Posted Thursday at 10:40 PM Didn’t know an exemption existed for aviation parts. Where do you find the list of states or easier again is Arizona one of the exemption states? Quote
bigmo Posted yesterday at 01:05 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:05 AM This is from Mcfarlane - and it seems PRETTY accurate (but it’s missing WI). And like mentioned above, some also tax exempt labor on aviation too. I’m fortunate as my state exempts both. It’s not trivial on big upgrades. Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia or Wyoming Quote
