Baffling for a 1965 M20E

Thinking of replacing my metal baffling on my 65 E (IO 360 A1A no dog house).  Aside from Lasar and McFarlan / Airform, does anyone know of any other company offering these?  Not looking for used.

That's about it. Airforms doesn't sell a kit for your plane, They sell the baffles for a J. They do sell the individual pieces. About 60% will work on your plane.

Good to know.  I have a few pieces that are tired.  I’ll check and see if they will sell just those pieces.  Thanks N201MK

I just went through this same adventure wanting to replace all of my doghouse on my '65E on its recent engine overhaul. 

• LASAR does not have any of the parts in stock and Mooney would not give them a lead-time to produce any of them.
• I contacted Airforms and they said they do not have any pieces for a vintage Mooney
• I looked for salvage shops and did not find any that had pieces in good shape. 
• I contacted a few MSC's and none of them had new parts for the doghouse

My A&P looked at fabricating new ones from scratch, but some of the pieces are pretty precise, such as the cuts around the cylinders and the top piece with the bends and spark hole bulbs and he didn't want to spend the time to do it. We ended up just doing sheet metal repairs to the existing.

If you are not replacing everything, with the old baffles, tracing news ones is a pretty quick process and very accurate even if they are broken. To me it's faster to make a replacement than to figure out whether what I have is the same as what I'm ordering to ensure everything will match up.

Buy a bottle of machinist's dye, a new, sharp machinist's scriber.  Trace the old parts, make heavy paper or poster-board weight cardboard templates.  Leave a bit of extra material for and fitting with files and a dremel tool, and go at it.  It is time consuming but you will get a better fit it you work slowly, and it will just cost you for the aluminum.  Make it a bit heavier than the ones made commercially, probably 0.090".

I will be doing same in a few months , I have found a highly skilled fabricator that said he can make new , if your interested I can get a price on a set of 2 ..

Buy a good nibler or find a good sheet metal shop.
