If it had been a Bonanza I would spend less time on this forum.

If you had bought a Bonanza instead of your Mooney, you wouldn't spend any time here--you'd be living on Beechtalk instead!

Haha I do spend some time there.  I think we can all agree Bonanza owners are “different”.

I like the Bonanza V tails, Velocity, Rockwell Commander 114/115, Mooneys. Flew all but the V tail. Commander very roomy but slow compared to the Velocity/Mooney. Velocity was really nice - flew the RG and FG, 2 door and Clam top. 2 door all the way….

I’d still do the Commander though - liked flying that one. Mooney scratches my itch very well now, very happy with it…

I have a number of hours in Commander 112A.  I seriously looking at 114/115s.  But did not find anything interesting at the time.

You have good taste in planes. I’ll add that one thing you might want to consider are the number of desirable STCs available for the airplane you want. For example, the aftermarket items I’ve added to my plane are the CiEs fuel senders, the Dynon Skyview HDX (Still waiting on the autopilot to get approved, but I don’t know if they’ll ever approve it for the Commander), and the Powerflow exhaust. What if you wanted to put an MT prop on it someday? Think about those things too.

MT has prop for 114.

Also there are IO-390 (112) and IO-580 STCs for the Commanders. :D

Bonanza’s are better in every way over a Mooney minus two things.  Initial purchase price and then cost per mile.

I can dispute that. Range. I've had 4 or 5 Bonanzas and 3 Mooneys. I used to take long trips in both. There were many trips in the Bonanzas that I had to stop for fuel when a Mooney would have made it. And you know how those fuel stops went. 30 degrees outside, 20 mph wind, on that ramp for 20 minutes freezing to death. Or losing an hour of your vacation weekend to make a fuel stop. Or having to decend into weather you really, really don't want to land in, to make a fuel stop you really don't want to make. I'm old now and probably won't be making any long trips but trust me, I loved my Bonanzas, but for long trips they aren't even a contender.

Bonanza’s have long range tanks (tip tanks which you can actually buy today unlike Mooney long range tanks which you can’t).  06C to KEWY non-stop no problem.
