bd32322 Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Hi, Is anyone willing to show me an example of a factory retrofit interior? I am wondering if its worth it to go that route versus the cheaper alternatives. I am based in KFIT, MA. If you are very far away from KFIT, some good pictures would also help. Thanks Quote
MooneyMitch Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Hi. You might connect with Jeezie here on MooneySpace. I believe he recently purchased a factory interior. It was not through the factory though. 3rd party I believe. I don't believe the factory is producing this product at this time. Hopefully in the future. Quote
MooneyMitch Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Just thought of something else for you too! You might contact Bruce Yeager. He was working on an STC for interior refurbishments. I don't know the status of this but we did see the samples at the MAPA convention in Colorado Springs, 2010.........very impressive to me. http://www.jaegeraviation.com/sinteriors Quote

jpjp Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 You may want to try Aero Comfort in San Antonio, Tx. http://www.aerocomfort.com/index/mooney/ I know that they were working closely with Mooney with the retrofit interiors up until Mooney shutdown again. Quote

jezzie Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Regarding Mooney retro fit interior drawing #940129. It's real unfortunate that the factory does not have inventory of the retro fit interiors. I think if those who want one all banded together and approached the factory they may build a few. Just a thought. When I removed my interior from the K model 3 weeks ago I damaged some of the small pieces needed to make the rear seats work, and the factory had all the pieces I needed. I think any MSC could put a parts list together. As far as the new F/G panels they should be easy to replicate, not sure how you go about getting the blessings of Mooney. The retro fit interior in my opinion makes a 35 year old airplane look brand new, I am so pleased with mine, can't wait to have it installed. Thank you Quote
FBCK Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 Jezzie, I would agree, I'm in Calgary and I will likely, next year, be looking to redo my interior, I have been following your work on Mooney, top notch all the way. I did see pictures on the factory installation and it looked great, the cost was on the higher end, I beleive it was 20-25k. I talked with Areocomfort and likeld what I saw there, but between getting the tanks done (Paul) and a new GFS, I deferred the interior, I want to use the plane just a bit this year between shop visits. rainman Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 AeroComfort did mine in 2011. You can check my photo gallery. I'm close to San Antonio so it was easy for them and I got great service. Not cheap but real quality. I know you can have your local shop do the teardown then ship to them and they'll send the interior back to your shop for the install. They repaired many of my broken plastic parts and replaced others. Quote
Bennett Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I had a complete interior done by Tom at Aircraft Designs in Pine Lake (Groveland), CA See bennett's gallery. Great workmanship, and I prefer it to the factory retrofit. Totally custom. He reproduced the seats in my SL500, and then used aircraft honeycomb for the side panel backings. Quote

Lionudakis Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 I just had to look to see if I knew this guy. I grew up and learned to fly on that airport. But the website is http://www.aviationdesign.com/ Quote
Txbyker Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 BD32322, I had Don Maxwell replace my Lean Machine interior during annual. He sent the goods to Aerocomfort and they returned pieces to him in reassembly order as they finished them. They have probably done more Mooneys than any including the factory. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 Aero Comfort did my M20J. Don Maxwell did much of the removal and install. Before (Red) and After (gray) pictures below. They do awesome yokes, too! Quote

steelerp Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 AeroComfort did mine. See the pics I have posted. Hector and his shop did an outstanding job. Plus, as others have posted, you do not have to bring the a/c to KSAT. He works with other shop around the country and will send what you want to them for installation. He is not cheap. But you get exactly what you pay for. Rick Quote
