Looking at a J'97 -- any recommendations for a pre-buy inspection in Anderson, IN? I have a few contacts from the broker, but would like some independent options.

TIA

I am open to suggestions. I cannot fly the airplane since I am in a different part of the country.

Keith's shop, Anderson Aviation, at KAID (Anderson, IN) has done a great job with our Mooneys for over 10 years.  He even fixed issues that a Mooney Service Center messed up!

The one at Indy Air?  I emailed about that one too.  Looks like it could be a great opportunity for a clean unmolested late model J.

I think that J sold this past year and is now being resold after a short period of ownership.  It was showing sold again just last week and now it's back on the market.  Wonder what happened.  If it's clean it seems like a rare find; the beginnings of a forever J.

Flunked a prebuy most likely. There's a reason for that. Also, dont use someone recommended by the broker, or anyone that knows them.

Yes, N97DM.

Went with Keith/Anderson Aircraft -- they are on the recommended list from Indy Air Sales.

Thanks everyone!

Beautiful airplane - serial number 3409, one of the last 25 J's built. It has all of the running improvements of twenty years of that model. The fiberglass interior walls and headliner in the '96 and '97 models, rather than the Royalite  in the older J's, is highly desirable. Personally I would put $15,000 value on that alone. The fiberglass is covered in ultraleather and with any kind of care you should never have to think about the interior sidewalls and headliner again. This interior is quieter with less vibration and is finished to the same standards as all Ovations and Acclaims and later Bravos.

The high time engine wouldn't scare me since they have already dealt with a new camshaft and the airplane is already priced with a runout engine.

The panel will still get you wherever you want to go and I would fly it a year or two before thinking about any upgrades.

Unless there are any showstoppers like spar corrosion and you're serious abut a J,  I wouldn't let this one get away.

Even with 40k in an engine overhaul and 40k in avionics, you wouldn’t be too far upside down.
