Jlocke Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 On the panel in my 252 are a couple of lights that are rather obvious but do nothing. I've never seen them illuminated in the two years I've owned the plane. I've asked some of the guys around the hangar--no ideas. They are the blue and green square lights in the first picture below just above the ASI. At one time there was a King KNS RNAV-80 in the plane. Would these have had something to do with it? Anyone know? Quote
jackn Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Believe that is your GPSS steering. Press, turns green, on. Quote
carusoam Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 Back in the day when GPS and VORs were both capable of driving the same HSI needle, A blue light would come on when GPS was the driver. This was an FAA requirement back in the day. Look to see if you have a blue light indicating your HSI source... Since the GPS is the prefered source, the blue light is constantly on and is subject to burning out without being noticed. Best regards, -a- Quote
jwilkins Posted March 19, 2012 Report Posted March 19, 2012 Also take a look behind the panel and see if the lights are connected to anything. It is amazing how often switches and lights are abandoned but left it the panel. Your panel looks so nice and new that this is probably not the case, but it wouldn't hurt to take a peek. Jim Quote
