eldeano Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Anyone seen the new AOPA pilot Magazine cover yet? Mooney M20E Fast, Fun, and Fuel -Efficient. Speed Without the Fuel Burn. Sounds like some of the stuff we have been talking about lately. Quote
Cris Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 It is full of the " Mooney" myths -unfortunately Quote
HartParr Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Beautiful covergirl, just wonder why the owner was not interviewed more about said myths. Quote
Cabanaboy Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Someone post a scan of the cover, cant wait to see it Quote
Sabremech Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Interesting read. Did anyone else notice the nose gear doors and how far they are opened up in the shot from the bottom? I'd be curious to see mine as I just re-rigged them at annual. Nice and tight on the ground. Quote
aerobat95 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 I was thinking the same thing reguarding the gear doors. Looks to me like they need to be re-rigged. Also, why didn't the owner clean the plane up some.....looks dirty.....especially the gear. Quote
201er Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Haha, leave it to the Mooney pilots to micro analyze the gear door rigging... Quote
aerobat95 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Here is the cover shot and the nasty gear..... Quote
201er Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Ok, I take back what I said about micro analyzing. It's blatantly obvious there. Is that really an E? Looks like a J. Quote
Sabremech Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Definitely an E. I'm curious as to what cowling mod that is? 201 with the old cheek panels. Looks nice! Quote
alex Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Was the owner caught off guard? Aerobat is right, nasty gear... You would think that knowing it would be the cover story on a magazine a little time would have been taken to make it look better. Maybe its' just the picture quality? Quote
aerobat95 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Its a very interesting E. I'd like to know how that cowling was done. J front with E side??? Must have been a field approval. As far as the picture quality....it looks just as bad in the magazine. And what is up with the nose gear on the cover? It shouldn't look that bad should it?? Quote
aerobat95 Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Very cool.....it is really to bad they don't have that mod anymore.....It would look really nice on my '74F Quote
kerry Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 AOPA should of know better. They should have photoshopped the gear doors. Other magazines do this for swimsuit models. Quote

DrBill Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 WOW,, NICE COVER.. Mine has a CESSNA TWIN on it but the article is inside. He's got the Johnson bar movement wrong.. Raising the gear on my A/C I take the bar from the panel and lower it to the floor. Wonder if he has any time in a mechanical gear Mooney ? Quote
Sabremech Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Mine had the twin Cessna cover on it too! It's their turbine edition. I e-mailed AOPA and had it switched to the regular edition. Quote
Jeff_S Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Yeah, mine also had the Cessna twin and I didn't realize there was a turbine edition and a regular edition. I'll have to look into making the switch. Quote
DrBill Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I emailed AOPA member services and got a reply today. They are switching me to standard version AND sending me a copy with the Mooney on the cover ! Now THAT's customer service. BILL Quote
