Greg_D Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 Where exactly is the autopilot roll servo located on a 94 Ovation? Quote
StevenL757 Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 Inside an inspection panel under the right wing, about 2 feet aft of leading edge and about 5 feet inboard from the wingtip. The inspection panel is not held in by screws like the majority of the others. You need to drill out the Avex non-structural pop rivets to get to the servo. Quote

This servo controls both ailerons, correct? Quote
rgpilot Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 I had my roll servo changed in my 2004 Ovation and it simply was unscrewed and replaced in 15 minutes. Quote
GeeBee Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 It is likely yours was in the left wing outboard by the aileron link. Things change. Quote

rgpilot Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 My servo was just replaced with an overhauled unit. It was located in the right wing very outboard. There was an inspection plate there and avionics guy was able to fit his hand in and make the necessary connections and bolt it in. Quote
Cruiser Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 1999 it was in the left wing, all else as Steve describes. Quote
LANCECASPER Posted June 14, 2022 Report Posted June 14, 2022 Depends on the autopilot I would think. They used King KAP150s and KFC150s from 1994 til around 1999ish. Then in 2000 for sure used the King KFC225. Then somewhere in there offered the STEC-55x as an option and then standard on the early G1000, then finally the GFC700 starting around later 2007ish Quote

I haven't been out to the airport to check yet, but I will report back once I do. Quote

I finally found mine in the outboard section of the right wing near an inspection panel that was screwed in. Since your avionics guy was able to replace the servo in 15 minutes, I'm guessing that he was able to replace just the motor and didn't have to disconnect the capstan and rigging. Can you please confirm? Either way, 15 minutes seems amazing given how tightly fit everything is in there! Quote
skykrawler Posted June 20, 2022 Report Posted June 20, 2022 (edited) The 15 minutes probably doesn't include the appropriate testing and log book entry. Edited June 20, 2022 by skykrawler Quote
