Wimp. :D

I went through Laughlin AFB, having to wear a flight suit and boots every day. :D

When were you there?

Ha! When you are there as an instructor and you double turn or sometimes even triple turn, the heat is even worse! I was there as a T6  instructor from 2012 to 2015.

Newbie.  :D

I was a student there, class 82-01, November 1980 to October 1981.

At least I was in the T-38 over the summer, so had some A/C.   Did Holloman AFB, NM for LIFT, but winter.  Then Barksdale in LA for A-10 RTU in the summer, but the Hog has GREAT A/C. :D

My dad was an instructor there in the late 70s, early 80s. You guys may have overlapped, he'd have been a Capt then. Thom Granier

It he was there 80 - 81, we overlapped.   Name is not familiar.   I was E Flight for Tweets, Fly the Greatest of Ease AMF, and M flight for -38s, Mother's Finest.

Have either of you guys seen clear static film that’s uv protection?  I used the “light” grey Gila on the back windows in my F and it was actually pretty dark.  I want to keep out uv but I’m not so worried about heat/light up here in Washington.

I haven't, but in Southern California and flying to AZ/UT/CO in summertime I am looking for as much heat reduction as possible.

The static cling is the way to go. I use 5% in the back and 20% up front. I keep some squares of 5% rolled up in the plane to slap up where the sun is really bad. It causes a slight distortion in the view but, nothing that would affect safety.

I do the same.

I did also. I cut the shape on the outside and then used soapy water to get it into place inside and squeegeed the water out. I think it looks really nice. GJ the Adventure Kitty likes it also.

I have some Velcro on the back windows also for the foil bubble wrap, in the summer time I put that up on the back windows. It makes a huge difference in comfort in the Texas summer. I painted one side of the foil a flat black so it's not blinding inside the airplane.

If you cut the foil bubble wrap the same size as the window it will just stick in there without any velcro. I have pieces of it for all the windows when it is parked outside on a ramp and often leave the back windows in while flying in the summer. A roll of this stuff will last forever. For the windscreen I did have to put two pieces together with aluminum tape and have it split in half down the center to make it easier to install/remove.

He was there 77-81 so you guys were there at the same time. He was A Flight Commander in 79-81, supervising instructor pilots.
