After 900 hours my Rapco pump failed. Actually was not the pump but the rubber shaft coupler. The pump was still operable. You could make the pump turn by itself by sucking into the inlet port. Luckyli my trusty $7 venturi back up took care of the failure and I was able to continue my trip for the next 8 hours. I switched to venturi to avoid the need to reduce power when using the engine intake vacuum scheme. Which is worthless at altitude when you have full throttle. The venturi works pretty well except on the ground since you need airspeed to work.

Well, a second application for it for the same price. No need to worry anymore about bottles. Thanks for the tip.

So does that seriously generate enough vacuum to power your gyros? What vacuum pressure does it generate at various airspeeds? Do you have a picture of the other end at the pump? Cool!
