It's time to paint my 75 F Model. Ive called and emailed a few shops recommended by folks at my airport but have yet to receive a proposal in writing or a date when I can bring it in. Anyone have a particular shop they would recommend. I'm looking to paint it in the original 1975 Republic Steel scheme and match the existing colors as close as I can.  I'm based in Connecticut but I'm looking for a shop that does a good job, and isn't booked into 2023.  Any suggestions are welcomed.

If NJ is in range…

Reese Brothers painted a really nice Mooney for AOPA years ago…

They also painted my Ovation… more than a decade ago…

And added a stripe or two to @Cris’s Screamin’ Eagle… about a decade ago…

Kind of old news…

:)

Problem with all of the good shops is scheduling.  So the one you think you're going to may not actually be the one.  Unless you have lots of time to wait...

I used Prestige Aircraft Inc at Franklin County, VT (KFSO) and found out about them from friends that also used them.  They're about as far north as you can go in VT.

There's also Ed's Paint Shop at Brookhaven, NY (KHWV) who I used a few times for touch-ups over the years.

And Ken Reese, who I guess is now part of KD Aviation, at Robinsville, NJ (N87)

Hi 58V, Boss (http://aircraftpainting.com/) in Salisbury, NC has been highly rated as a standout shop in aviation consumer's review (https://www.aviationconsumer.com/maintenancematters/paint-shop-survey-downtime-costs-up/) I have personally had 1 plane repainted with them. Very professional, great work on time and on quote. good luck

Paint Shop Survey: Downtime, Costs Up

Designing the right scheme and playing an active role in the planning helps keep the project on the rails. Lowballed quotes should be red flags. By  Larry Anglisano -Published:July 20, 2020Updated:October 12, 2021, aviation consumer
