Hello

I am upgrading my central panel on M20J MSE 1993 with G3X and G5,

looking for the aluminium panel, any good address where to purchase it?

ideal would be to have it laser cut with the G3X, G5, and all the switches,

Thanks in advance

Philip

The shop that installs your new equipment should be able to cut you a new custom panel. They can fit it properly. Ordering one from another place will be difficult to fit. perfectly.

I can do one for you, here is another 1993 M20J I did.  The hard work is in the CAD files.  I could probably get it right with one 'template' for fitting. Then final with the lower edge bent and the panel painted.

The attached one is a 3/4 panel with Radiorax - so first step is to check whether your guy will sign something like this out.  But I can also do a 1/2 panel and just replace the 'key panel' and 'pilot panel'.

DHL from Vancouver BC to Europe works pretty well.

Let me know a layout and we can get it designed and cut for you if you need.

My shop used Envision Avionics Panels https://www.eapanels.com/. They supplied CAD drawings for approval and then supplied clear plastic panels to check fit and fine tune things. Final panels are very nice. Powder coated and laser engraved. The plastic check piece is important as each Mooney is a little different. One thing that we learned is that the original pilot's panel is shock mounted on lord mounts (1994 M20J) that are screwed into rivnuts in the tubular structure behind the panel. The new panel is mounted on rigid standoffs (that's better for the ADAHRS which is mounted to the back of the G3X). Turns out that the holes in the original panel didn't quite line up with the rivnuts -- Mooney apparently wasn't too careful about alignment since the shock mounts are flexible. We didn't catch that until checking the plastic part.

Envision uses power coat from Prismatic Powders https://www.prismaticpowders.com/ and I was able to get a sample chip from them so that I could find some matching paint for the screws. Aaron would have powder coated the screws, but I planned to reuse the Mooney screws with the plastic washers and those cannot be powder coated.

Exactly! Cutting a metal panel for a Mooney without the plexiglas mock-up panel is an exercise in futility.
