Just if anybody is wondering. An stec stc transfer for a used system is $8000 as of today. You must buy the hardware kit and wiring kit from them for the install.

Thats all.

Sounds fantastic....

Like a new Gill battery, or a Champion spark plug...

Wonder if we can buy one, and make copies for everyone on MS..?

STec must be better than Big G... because big G can’t harass the customers as powerfully as this...

Is this essentially the method to kill off any pre-flown STec systems coming up for sale, by making them financially improbable..?

PP sarcasm only... :)

Best regards,

This is for anybody that comes across a used system for a very good price that was removed nicely and is complete and wants to install it in their airplane. Not a change parts out as needed for repair.

The company seems to be willfully blocking the install of used STEC autopilot systems.  An unintended upside provided to existing STEC system users may be a plethora of cheap used replacement components available when those old systems fail.  I'm sure that electric gyro driving my STEC30 will die at some point - hopefully it will be an easy swap.

Guys with experimental planes are probably licking their chops.  Getting good prices on used STEC units if they don't opt for garmin or dynon.
