Airplane is flown VFR only and has an old Garmin GPS 155 TSO non-WAAS unit.

Used to be one could find a one shot data update (to last a year or so VFR) pretty easily on the net

Haven't been able to find one recently. ]

Any one know of anybody offering that service now? Don't need or want a full cycle subscription for doing direct everywhere VFR

but he ancillary information updated would be nice. Some airports do change names.

The same folks you're very familiar with for all things nav data - Jepp.
If you call them, I am pretty sure you can get a one time update, also known as a trip kit. You can get coverage for as little as the West Central US.

I suspect you'll also need a Jepp Skybound writer to update the data card. You'll need to ask about that.

Used to be some shops had multiple download contracts and would exchange data cards for a smaller fee for a one time load.

I think I paid about $40 for one a few years ago    No Skybound device needed They did it in their shop and mailed it back.

Can't seem to find any now.
