Northern Mooniac Posted July 29, 2019 Report Posted July 29, 2019 I've been troubleshooting issues with my AP lately. my AME found that my roll servo was dripping with TKS fluid. They think it's coming from the access panel and getting sucked in, i'm just wondering if anyone else has run into an issue like this? Plane is a 81 M20K w/ TKS and KFC200 AP Quote
Bob Weber Posted July 29, 2019 Report Posted July 29, 2019 I can't say I've heard this before, could there be a leak in the supply line to the TKS panel? Jake at Bevan will be the best place to send the servo. I can help with any questions about the autopilot, 616 822 1999. Bob Weber webairconsulting.com Quote

I would second the leak suggestion. There isn’t that much that rolls back across the wing to really get it soaking. Try poking around with A borescope. This is a lot of bang for the buck if you don’t have one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MYTHWK4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Pe0pDb71Y19GX Quote
thinwing Posted July 31, 2019 Report Posted July 31, 2019 That is really weird...I would suspect a leaking supply line to the tail dripping on the servo Quote
CAV Ice Posted July 31, 2019 Report Posted July 31, 2019 @Northern Mooniac If you have an issue with a TKS leak feel free to send me some pictures j.jennings@cav-systems.com and/or give me a call 913 738 5397. 1 Quote
carusoam Posted August 12, 2019 Report Posted August 12, 2019 J.Jennings, is @CAV Ice Protection part of your group as well? This is our usual TKS contact... wondering if we can add a second view point to our usual support structure... We have many TKS users around here. But, problems are few and far between... when they arise they seem to be pretty unique... like the afore mentioned one... Reminder for @Northern Mooniac to post pics when / if able... Best regards, -a- Quote

Best regards, -a- Bonanza guys are finding out that it corrodes the steel wire that fastens the skin to the spar. . The wire snaps off then they have to change the spar because of corrosion. CAV Ice Posted August 16, 2019 Report Posted August 16, 2019 @jetdriven the FAA came out with an SAIB covering Bonanza, Baron, and Debonair series airplanes. The reason corrosion is occuring is due to the high carbon steel hinge pin beech switched to. The TKS doesn't corrode the pin itself, but TKS fluid will wash away any lubrication/oils/ect. that are on the pin. Previous versions of the aircraft with the stainless steel pins are not being effected to our knowledge. 1 Quote
