Were I going to buy a supercar I'd buy a Vette.  They do everything a supercar can do and at a fraction of the cost. They even put the engine where it belongs.  No way would I buy the first year of having the engine where it belongs, though.

That said, I think I'd need an impressive financial infusion before I could even think about it.

By the way, I forgot to mention I met the OP, 201Steve at KSSI two weeks ago! It was a real pleasure and I wish I had more time, but my party was pulling on me as we only had the day there. You got to love a MS'er who hangs out at the airport and checks out every Mooney that comes in!

As I tell my gf leaving the house on Saturday mornings, “I’m going to hang out with the old folks” =) Come down anytime for a doughnut and coffee. Where did you say you were based again?

Interestingly, his came from the factory with no step...we were comparing a few things that are same/different.

Definitely cool when stuff like that happens.

Mine is factory no step as well. I thought it was a gear up landing clue when first noticing it at purchase

I had the same experience when I bought my 201 25 years ago.  At that point I thought they all had steps but mine came from the factory without one.  I don't miss it and I like to think it makes me faster :-)

Yes! I say the same thing. Pesky high drag steps.
