Here's a fun one; noticed last night the mixture control ('69 F quadrant throttle; how difficult is it to convert to push/pull?!) is oscillating back and forth in flight (throttle and prop lever are steady). Anyone have this before?

I would check the cable, connections carefully. Cable is secured under your quadrant/panel, at the firewall, and down by the fuel servo. Of course check the cable to mixture arm connection.

How tight was the friction lock?

Someone here (Scott?) converted a 77J from quadrant to push-pull ala 78 and later Js, using a salvage hull. Seems it took months and required replacing other interior / belly parts from below the quadrant to the nose gear doors. It sounded like a huge amount of work . . . Maybe he will see this thread and respond . . . .

For your issue, check the friction lock, the mixture level mounting and cable security at both ends. Personally, I really like my throttle quadrant!

Hrm. Will check. As to the quadrant vs push-pull: It seems like I can't get the quadrant set as accurately as I'd like, and the pod intrudes into the cockpit a bit. If it was an easy swap I'd be tempted, but if it's that involved I can live with it. I can definitely see why Mooney swapped back.

The quad is definitely more difficult to fine tune settings than a vernier setup.

I’ve been used to the quad that I kinda dig it now.  I can run 0.1-.02 Gph increments if I’m careful.

Re the oscillation- anything else oscillating marching that frequency they you can see? Fuel pump, prop harmonic? Etc.  you want to make sure that the cable is not binding or touching something first.

Youve has so much work done that I’d want to investigate before writing it off

That wobble is caused by the cable itself shifting...maybe being blown arround by wind or rubbing on moter mount etc...I would check all the adel clamps securing the cable...it doesn’t look like simple vibration to me
