Spent a nice couple of hours out in Kerrville picking up 6949V after annual and just picking their brains about general Mooney things.  Gotta say, I can't imagine a better place to go for Mooney service than Dugosh.

Parker, I have plenty of stories like that. . . what amounts to a couple of years of my life spent in the Comfort Suites in Winston-Salem, the months I spent in Motel 6 just outside D.C., a solid month at the Hilton Gardens just north of the airport in San Antonio, weeks of corporate apartment in Phoenix, . . . I'd still rather be in the Texas Hill Country.

I take my aircraft to Dugosh for obvious reasons, but a not so obvious reason is that I think the more I make my co-pilot drive out there to drop me off or pick me up, the more likely she is to one day say "Randy, I love it out here in the Hill Couontry, can we sell the house in the city and move out to the country?"

Wish me luck.

What a coincidence.  Until moving back to Texas this most recent time, we lived in central Florida for 5 years, just outside of Orlando.  It was okay, but too much mouse oriented stuff where we lived.  Of course, that's why the co-pilot and kids liked it so much.

I'm liking Lakeland.  Whether I'll stay here (permanently) or move back to Dallas (permanently) remains to be seen.

In either case, I'll get to work in the other state several weeks out of the year.  Honestly I'm kind of leaning towards Florida right now.  A lot of aircraft activity down here.

I'm not really a boat person unless you're talking a Lake Amphib or a Cessna 185 or similar on amphibs. :)

But I do like states with no income tax, ok gun laws (Arizona has the best out of the 3 states I mentioned), and lots of planes.

I just don't like the hurricanes out here...but we'll see.

No votes for Ohio in here?  C'mon!  We have good IFR and low level ice practice many months of the year!  NASA didn't put their ice research center here for no good reason!  And if ever an engine out, the worst case in most places is a landing in a field instead of between trees or mountains.  :)

Boy! That's for sure!! Plenty of nice flat land in Ohio. Doesn't beat North Dakota, however. Miles and miles of flat grassland with a very occasional tree ...  Good IFR/Ice there, too !!
