Accidently broke my baby,

 where do I find the clear plastic pieces which go under the nav/strobes and show if they are working from the cockpit?

what are they called?

I bought one from LASAR. Make sure you 9sitting down when asking the price, made me decide tomnot jjsg rrplace  ithnwhile i was doing it. 

Also, drill the bolt holes carefully so it doesn't crack . . . But you'll need to trim it to fit your wing first.

I always liked these things, but never really got the point.  You preflight the airplane and check the lights.  If one goes out in flight, what are you going to do, land? Or continue?  If it doesn't change my decision to continue, why have them in the first place?

Step drill bits are a good alternative to special plexy drill bits

Regular bits work if they are sharp, but you need support under the drill bit to prevent it from cracking when the tip comes through the back side.
