Niko182 Posted November 4, 2017 Report Posted November 4, 2017 As of right now my family is planning on getting a mooney. Ive been looking at trying to take a ride up in a mooney. The majority of my life I spent in the back seats of an M20k 231, but since i was from ages 1 to 8, I actually never got to fly it. As of right now I got my PPL, and am currently working on my IFR and since my parents are both IFR pilots and planning to acquire an aircraft, I just wanted to see if i could a quick ride in one. Id be willing to pay, but as no flight schools rent mooneys, I dont have anywhere to try one. I'm not really picky. I dont really care if its an m20c, or a brand new Acclaim ultra. hopefully this doesn't come off as rude, asking for a ride in someones plane. I saw i couple people did it on mooneyspace, and i thought Id try. N Quote

JohnB Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 I'm in Long Beach, but happy to give a ride when I'm available. And Hey @TheTurtle Want to go do some more PAR approaches? Quote

In the preliminary stages of researching if an M20 is right for me.... at this point I’d like to see if I can see over the panel and reach everything as I’m 5’ 5”. Can I impose on you to see and sit in your Mooney? If your open to showing me your plane, I’m usually at the field Sundays to fly, but most any day works since I live and work in Newport. Thanks. Brent Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 (edited) I was in a similar position and got a couple of airplane introductions through some kind folks on this forum. I see some are already responding. Note also, Pinnacle Aviation Academy at KCRQ Palomar (San Diego area) has a Mooney M20J. They offered everything from a morning ground/flight orientation to a complex endorsement and more in the airplane. http://www.pinnacleacademy.com/aircraft/aircraft.aspx?id=24 I'm going down there for an orientation before I go get full transition training and pick up a plane in Texas later this month. (And once I have the plane and some experience, I hope to pay forward the favors.) Edited December 9, 2017 by Brent Quote

Ha! I thought that was a funny way to say that. Kind of like how I had a cat that was half my age when I was 40, but alas, I am too old now. If you're under 18, you'll want to make sure the parents give the ok, even if you have a PPL. Just a thought Quote
gsxrpilot Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 I used to give rides all the time... the result was that now everyone in Texas has a Mooney and I don't have anyone to give rides to... 1 Quote

John No question that you'll be fine in a Mooney, but you might want to add rudder extension pedals available in a couple sizes but usually the largest/longest are installed. We put these in for my 5' 2" wife as well. But with the fully articulating seats she can adjust the seat as high as she wants and is still below the max. Quote
