I think over all a good investment to have an MT 3 blade prop. As pro I see: weight, better performance and smoother run. But I also see a down site beside the price. I was flying just some days ago the North Atlantic again and sometime you cant avoid a bit ice. This is something that the prop dont like that much. Good message is it's easy to repair.  Maybe I also  have a "Monday blade" since one blade seems to have more problems than the other two.

That looks like a lot of body filler on the leading edge to fair the nickel leading edge into the rest of the blade. I'm just not sure how well1/16" of body filler is  going to last on a prop that turns at 400 miles per hour

Great photos, flumag.

Excellent logic, Byron.

MT has a nice piece of technology, more proven every day...

They have learned recently, that their means of painting didn't stick very well to at least one of their their leading edge material choices...

Some discussions on that topic are resident around here somewhere.

MT is a strong supplier for EU Mooneys. Many in the US as well...

Hartzel offes a composite version of their TopProp, for comparison.

Forces at 2700 rpm, are in the tons range, there can be some flex expected all the way out to prop tips...

Best regards,

Our Cirrus has the MT 3 blade with the "new" paint process. 300 hours including some rain and it's holding up nicely- our mechanic says better than aluminum. Ours is black though, not white. Only real complaint is the fake chrome on the composite (plastic?) spinner is insanely easy to scratch.

3 blade MT. If my memory is working properly, I think about 14 AMU. I love mine. Very much quieter, smoother, lighter, better take off and climb performance, and better landing speed drag for slowing down. I can not discern any cruise speed decrease, but I admit I do not have any really good data to back that up.

I fly with Don every now and then and agree with everything noted.  Night and day difference on climb performance.

Also, one of the best benefits is the weight savings and CG improvement.
